US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-2005 America West merger) - Need 8530 miles to make Gold

Mrs 925 is "only" 8530 miles from Gold. She is willing to take one mileage run to make it (not to Europe), but not two.

Is there any way to get some of the needed 8530 miles in any way other than BIS? Credit card? Double EQM? Any way at all?

Is US domestic business class currently 50% or 100% EQM bonus? UA?

A roundtrip between Seatle and CLT NONSTOP is 2275 miles each way If you book on www.usairways.com and fly thru SEP 30, 2005 you get additional 1000 miles towards prefferd status so thats 5550 already. 2980 to go!
add a few more segments. from clt to dca its 500 more miles each way so 1980 to go. FROM DCA there a 6 cities where us airways has new service where you get 2x preffered miles. living in chicago i know you get 2x preffered miles on dca nonstop so that 612 base preffered x2 so from dca-ord each way thru 1224. so dca-ord roundtrip is 2448!
so Im guessing that would do it.

when I get home I will try to route you like this w/ real world flights. I will go on usairways.com and get the flights and everything. You will not be able to book this at once on the site(thats were you need to book for the preffed booking bonus miles) so I suggest. One booking from seatle-clt roundtrip and another from clt - chicago roundtrip.

Why is she not willing to go to Europe? That would definitely be the easiest way rack up 8,000+ miles fast. US just sent out an email about low fares to Europe this fall.....can anyone say "Thanksgiving in Paris???? That's my plan....

Being from the west coast, its not hard to do it without a redeye.

A FC ticket will substantially speed things up as well too, if she wants to do it in style.

Here's a possibility that would require a redeye and an overnight in FLL and use a nested roundtrip. Fly from Seattle to PHL (2372 miles), connect to somewhere based on fare for another 500 miles. Nest a roundtrip to FLL in there out of that city for another 500+992 miles each way through PHL. Stay on the beach in FLL one night and reverse direction. Total miles come out to 8728. A grind, but doable over a weekend with the bonus of a night on the beach.

Or fly SEA-PHL-FLL-EYW (Key West) and return. Before the end of September with the booking bonus, it would be 8738 - no hotels needed. A true cross-country trip.

The transoncs are all Airbus. And the clt-dca are also big planes w/ F class the dca-ord-dca is all EMB-170. they dont have f class but they are nice! Do you have a max amount you want to spend?

No max to spend, but obviously, the leat necessary and still get her to go.

AFAIK, They are all RJ flights. All of the ones to ATL are, for sure. Someone correct me if I'm off-base.

The Double Miles flights thru 9/30 (DCA-ATL, ORD, DFW, IAH, CLE)are all on E-70s. Not quite RJs, but not quite mainline either (no FC). The E-70s are pretty nice though.

I checked. The whole purpose of the double mile promotion is to introduce their customers to the new E-70s. So they are ALL E-70s. Which is probably OK.

Have you thought about a UA nonstop to NRT or an SK nonstop to CPH? Either one would provide more than enough miles to requalify. No upgrade, but probably less grueling and less prone to a snafu than a domestic MR that involves PHL.

My bad. I didn't pay attention to where you're located. How about SEA/PHL/AUA? The SEA/PHL leg is 2372 and the PHL/AUA is 1919. Total roundtrip comes to 8582, just over your goal. Would involve a redeye on the outbound and an overnight is PHL on the return. A day or two on the beach in AUA would iron out any kinks incurred on the redeye.

Well, first of all, she flies more often that once every four months. I re-read the thread, and can't figure out where you got that impression.

She is also AA Gold, soon to be plat.

I travel 250K+ a year. Sometimes I can talk her into flying with me on my trips. But she doesn't go unless she has a very good shot at sitting upfront. And her fare comes out of my pocket. And she often follows me on her own, or leaves early, so she has to have her own status, and not rely on mine.

By the way... we are currenly planning on the AUA or other Caribbean destination rather than the pure MR (which is what I want her to do). We just have to nail the dates down now.

Agreed! I can't imagine going through all of the above hassle when you could take one flight to Paris or London and be done with it. Coach on the 333 isn't nearly as bad as all that RJ flying....

My impression was that she is planning to fly one more trip this year - over 3.5 months. Anyway, sorry if I misunderstood.
