Hello everyone. I just recently became an American Express Platinum cardholder. While many of the perks and affiliate membership programs that come with this card are very self explanatory, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Sony VIP program. I have not yet enrolled in this program, so any information will be helpful. Thank you!

sorry cant help you at all, but WELCOME TO FLYERTALK :)
I enrolled in this program. There is no written material. I simply received a welcome email and phone call from a "personal shopper" who is available to help choose and purchase Sony merchandise from the items listed on SonyStyle.com. I live in Miami and they happen to have an office and showroom on Miami Beach which I could visit, but I do not believe there are many such locations. I have not purchased anything because orders would be placed by phone with the shopper, which means no opportunity to earn bonus points from airline shopping websites, etc. No requirement to pay with American Express.
Priority technical support and customer service are offered, but only on items ordered through the shopper. As a practical matter I think they would provide these on previously purchased Sony items if one became a frequent customer.
It seems as if it would be useful if one were contemplating a complex purchase, such as a home theatre, but for a routine PC, camera, or television I don't perceive much benefit.

Prices are fair. I have not bought yet but am considering a LCD and think that I get a break on the install. If I buy, I will let you know.

If you do a search here on Sony Cierge you can see the benefits. However I thought that was only for Centurion members and perhaps you are talking about a different program? Cierge gets you 25% (I think) discounts on many Sony products.

Does anyone know the website?
Cierge is a Centurion benefit. Platinum has a similar program but it isn't Cierge. They can get you some items in advance of public release, and discounts on some. But for inistance a tv I'm looking for now is cheaper from stores than Cierge. You do get special warranty and customer service, though.

Ciege is great for full price. I dont find it any great value. They could not get me the PSP on release day. Best Buy was loaded with them...

Ditto, pretty useless when it came to the PSP. They sent me to Best Buy where there were tons....... I suppose if you want to pay full price for a 54" Plasma they may be of some use

I was always under the impression that Cierge would take care of all my technical support needs, but I found out that is only if you make the original purchase from them. So far I have not found any discounts from buying from Cierge than from my local electronics store. They make Cierge seem so "glowing", but it is pretty useless so far.
