I have only been a plat card golder for a short time, but am curious, there seems to constantly be double points bonuses for gold and green, are there ever any of these bonuses for plat?

Yes, I am currently accruing double MR points on my platinum for some promo I registered for.

And actually, as I think about it, I don't know if this is targeted, but I found out today that I am eligible for 25,000 bonus MR points if I use the platinum travel service to book any kind of travel, even just a flight or hotel reservation (if I understood her correctly). I don't think it's EVERY time, maybe just my first time, but again, this is a terrific benefit to being platinum.

The 25,000 MR points for using the Platinum Travel Service is NOT a targeted promotion. I asked the rep and she said, "you just have to be platinum." Though it could just be for the first year.
So while a MR point is not as valuable as a Starpoint, it's still 25,000 which is, depending on the season and airline, a free domestic ticket/ticket-and-a-half. So in some sense, I feel as though they've already paid me back twofold for the $395 annual fee. :)
