I am a couple of days out from getting my nano and wanted to organize my photos for transfer to the iPod. According the the iTunes section of the Apple Website, Auto-Sync is only compatible with Adobe Photoshop Elements or Photo Album (and obviously iPhoto for Mac).

Will I be able to drag and drop the photos manually onto the nano or will I need to get a hold of one of the Adobe programs?

You can sync any directory you want. Just point it to it and it will resize/import them.

I ordered my iPod nano yesterday morning and it arrived today! The local Apple Centre (Mac1 as a fellow flyertalker pointed out) ran out of stock and wouldn't offer the student discount. Apple Education Store scored on both counts and a 24-hour order to delivery time is very impressive.

Thanks for the info, ScottC! iTunes sure makes it easy to get the photos loaded. Now I am down to about 200MB free...

Happy to be part of the nano club :)

PS The bass response is excellent (using Bang & Olufsen A8)!!!

I created a folder in the My Photos directory and named it ~ipod (moves it to the top) I drag photos in and out of that folder. In the iTunes preferences I point to that folder. Easy as that.

That's the approach I have taken, makes it much easier than having to use some third party application. Cheers!
