Hertz - Who Do I Contact?

View Full Version : Who Do I Contact?

Recently I had a rental in Israel. When I returned the car to TLV, I asked the shuttle driver to drop me at the bus stop so I could take a bus into Jerusalem. He said no problem...

However he did not drop me off at a bus stop, rather he dropped me on the side of the road and said, the stop is just up there at the corner. By the time I walked to the corner - no stop. There were no stops anywhere near where I was... as he seemed annoyed when I asked him to drop me at the bus stop, I am thinking he couldn't be bothered and just dumped me.

Who do I contact to complain about this? I am not looking for compensation but this borders on dangerous and should not repeated.

I would probably stick with the usual of contacting corporate. I believe Hertz in TLV is a franchise, so I don't know how much control corporate will have over them, but they can at least let TLV know about the problem.

Slightly off-topic, but how was the rest of your Hertz experience there? I've got a TLV rental coming up in a few weeks and am debating going with them for $60-70 more (for a weekly rental) over Sixt or Budget.

This type of behaviour is typical... not just for airport bus drivers in TLV but throughout the entire country. Not so service focused.

While it "borders on dengerous and should not be repeated", so was asking to get out anywhere that the bus wasn't scheduled to stop -- the driver was simply charged with transporting you between Hertz and the airport. Given the strict Israeli airport security, I would have simply taken the bus back to TLV and then taken another bus to Jerusalem. It is too bad you couldn't find the actual bus stop (if it even existed), but anytime you ask to get off other than the designated stops -- be it in TLV or any other airport -- you run a risk.

Apart from being dropped off in the middle of nowhere, my Hertz experience was great. I picked up the car right in TLV - it wasn't ready when I arrived (which is fair I was 30 minutes early)... so out comes the offer of turkish coffee and biscuits while I am waiting.

I had a Fiat Punta - it ran great and was excellent on gas.

When I checked out my rental, Hertz was only $10 more than the others, so I took it - wanted it to count towards PC renewal.

Noah, I agree that asking to get off at other than a designated stop is dangerous... if he could not do it, or did not know where it was, he should have just said... I would have then gone back to the terminal and figured it out from there. Dropping someone off on the side of the road is inexcusable.

This sucks. I would have lost my mind.

I would like to think that by mailing a letter to the 'general manager' of Hertz Israel, you might get some satisfaction. My own experiences with complaining in Israel in these situations hasn't been very good, but I would send something both to that person, and to the CEO of Hertz. Neither one of them will likely read your letter, but at many US companies, they have special protocols (and even departments) to resolve problems brought to them by senior executives.
