Is it possible to access the patio in ORY when on a domestic flight?
Nothing is specified in the lounge access rules on the AF website when it comes to patios.

Well, regarding rules, you are entitled to access to the Patio. You just need to be departing from Hall 1, otherwise it is not possible, as it is located airside in Hall 1. There should be a lounge in Hall 2 after its renovation is completed, and there seems to be, although I have not used it yet, a departures lounge in Hall 3.

Thanks for your prompt answer...
I'm flying ORY-RUN next month, which lounge would be more practical for me ? The one located in Hall 2 or 3?
Thanks again,

You need to use lounge in hall 3 after police control on first floor and FB Gold or over or fly Business; it is a nice lounge with Internet working which is rare!

Nice but small lounge. Can be crowded in the early morning, but it shouldn't be a problem at 21:00 (AF680). I wonder how many Golds and Plats there are in RUN. Very long distance from Paris (= more elites) but plenty of holiday traffic on the now famous L fares (= less elites).

I'll try the lounge in Hall 3.
As for the amount of elites in RUN, as far as a friend of mine told me, there are tons... (They do have a higher elite threshold than us in living in the mainland though).
Many people in RUN hold an American Express KLM Gold card + they go back to mainland often... As a consequence, more and more businesses are accepting the American Express card!
I'm flying Alizé to RUN... Read it was about the same than regular economy; economy class in flights to the indian ocean or the west indies being very inferior to economy class on other routes... Any comments?

I'm flying Alizé to RUN... Read it was about the same than regular economy; economy class in flights to the indian ocean or the west indies being very inferior to economy class on other routes... Any comments?I have been in Alizé once (upgraded from Frequence Plus Bleu :) between ORY and RUN). I did the inbound segment (RUN-ORY) in coach and I really saw the difference. With the new configuration of COI B747, Alizé is on the upper deck cabin only, a very nice place. Now the big difference between Alizé and standard coach is food. COI coach food has nothing to do with AF's international coach food, which people often find quite good, according to this site (http://www.airlinemeals.net/).
Alizé will get you the 50% level miles bonus (same as l'Espace Affaires ^ ) so for those who need a (not so) cheap mileage run, the week in RUN at the end of the year (summertime in RUN) could be a nice way to get plenty of miles (5,821x3 with the COS bonus). They even used to have special "double your miles" offers in May (46,568 miles for Platinums in Alize! ! ! :p ) but I haven't seen them this year. I suppose this route is doing well, after the bankruptcy of Air Bourbon :( )

Yes, I'm here!
First time on this board, and I'm sorry with my english so bad...
As said by my username, I'm a frequent flyer of AF 680 (and 679 fortunately ! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=4575475#)
The lounge in orly hall 3 is OK, but no showers and no toilets in the lounge. The bad deal in Orly is thats there's not arrival lounge, and RUN-ORY is a 11 hours flight overnight. For my last flight from RUN, I have spent three hours in patio lounge waiting for my connecting flight (SXB!!!).
The new configured B744 for COI flights are very very big improvement, no more 742 on this flights. (no more 742 on AF fleet's).

How good is the Air France lounge in RUN?
AF680
Sep 10, 05, 9:25 am
The Air France lounge in RUN is very very small (of course, only one flight a day...) If there's a lot of passengers on AF 679, the lounge is very crowded, if the flight is empty, of course, the lounge is quiet!
one shower i think, toilets, coffe maker, drinks and a few snacks...and internet, when working!... I don't spend many hours in lounge in RUN because I go to the airport just at time to board.
In july I was on MRU-CDG flight, very beautiful lounge in MRU, especially the First lounge downstairs (and very tasty Pommerol...), business lounge is located upstairs (and "just" Pauillac to drink..... :) )

Beware, the lounge in RUN can be very crowded due to the high number of elite pax, and it's only open two hours before boarding, so if you're at the airport early, you'll have to wait...

Any details on the Salon Icare in Orly and access when traveling on domestic flights? I have a Priority Pass card and was wondering about access on domestic travel.
Thanks!

IIRC the priority pass loung is in the Orly South terminal, AF is operating the Orly West Terminal... so sorry. won't work. there is a patio in domestic area and a regular lounge in international departure area.
for access, you have to be Skyteam E+ or travelling biz/tempo challenge.

May I add that besides the food and the mileage, the seat pitch in Alize is a little bit better and that each seat is equipped with PTV. Of course, it's not Biz Class but some comfort might help to have a good journey. :p

I think it's time to open a thread about alizé class...
I'm agree whith the extra pitch, the PTV, the "very nice place" (upperdeck), BUT DON'T FORGET that with the refurbishing of B744, these seats are sold as coach on others destinations (non COI) like GIG, YUL and LAX (when operated by 744), PPT, MRU...
I think this is a VERY positive point for AF coach when the flight is operated by B 744.
Do you know why alizé is not sold on MRU flights? It is very strange for me, but I assume it's because AF sell first class on this flights (only on MK operated flights, and not a real "premičre" product, just first ;) falco!!!) and AF computers cannot sell 4 class of service for one destination...

FYI, the special config aircraft COI (Caraďbes OcéanIndien) will exist for about one more year. AF is actually replacing them by regular config aircrafts and Alizé will no longer exist.

Yes, there will be a Patio for La Navette flights.
The renovation should be complete in February 2006.

Are you certain? because I have heard about the configuration of the next "special COI" B 773 , and it seems they will be equiped with alizé.
And I don't think AF want loose the extra revenue of these seats wich are sold between 1500 (low season and advance purchase ) and 2500 euros (for an "economy" seat... it's not a bad revenue...).
But I'm agree with you, I don't understand very well the AF strategy about alizé class. I think the difference between alize and tempo is not big today with B 744 as it was with B 742 and B 743, because the improvment is bigger in tempo than in alizé class (just the PTV is new, and it is old fashioned).
And do you know why there's "only" 57 seats at the upperdeck fot the non-COI 744 ???
If AF decides not to maintain alize on COI flights and just offers these seats as elite seating, it would be a VERY GREAT NEW :) , but unfortunately, I don't expect it.
Thank you for the update about the ORY renovation.
And, I'm very sorry, but, what do you mean with "FYI" chrissxb, what a shame for me!!!

Nothing to be ashamed of, I also spend a couple of minutes daily trying to find what these acronyms mean; sort of like Sudoku. But for the lazy ones, I found this site http://www.acronymfinder.com/, which helps!

Thank you so much bodory and KLouis .
472 seats in a 773...
just a guess: at the front of the aircraft (between door 1 and 2);
14 J (2+3+2, normal configuration) and 36 S (alizé) in 4 row (3+3+3) OK.
BUT: here is the problem: whe need to put 422 seats in the three remaining sections. In the normal configuration, there's 235 seats in the two sections at the rear.
So, we have 2 solutions:
187 seats in the second section, i.e. 21 row... sounds very difficult.
OR... @:-) a configuration with 10 abreast (3+4+3) wich means 3*14*10=420 seats!!! hurra! (this is the configuration of UU, the main challenger on PAR-RUN, and on the carribean routes, AF's challengers use 9 abreast on 330 or 340...)
It is less than 1 year we have a normal product on COI flights (not all the destinations), and it sounds like the end...
Hope I'm wrong.
secondly: only 14 J seats (and 36S)? It is yet sometimes very difficult to find availability in business for the RUN-ORY flights... 22 J seats in the old 742 and 743, 17 today, 14 tomorrow...
but here we are: totally off topic!!!

There is a lot of difference between the AF COI "coach class" (rather call it "charter class" or "cattle transportation".... I wonder how many passengers suffer from severe embolism after a 8 or 12 hours flight in those conditions...
The seat pitch on Alizé is quite decent and even better than the regular AF coach seat pitch on European flights... OK this is no Business Class... but I find it to be half way between a "normal" coach class and Business class.

My understanding is that Alizé is AF's product for business travellers who cannot afford business class on COI routes (or whose company's travel policy won't allow business class for employees).
The most appropriate benchmark is Tempo Challenge: flexibility, specific cabin, business travellers who won't travel in business class on shorthaul routes, better food than in coach (easy since there is no real food in coach... :D ), lounge access at CDG... a kind of Canada Dry for business class. Yet your reservation status and your BP still say you're in coach, so it's OK for the company. Coincidence? Booking class for Tempo Challenge and Alizé are the same: S.
I would be very surprised if AF were to drop the Alizé concept.

This is well known... Last time I flew CDG-RUN, they called 4 times for a doctor on board since 4 passengers were sick (all coach pax)... I have a few friends (they're doctors) that travel on that route regularly and say it's quite common...

I am quite sure this is a common event on such flights... and this is quite a shame...
but when advising occasional travellers... most of them have never heard about the embolism story... and only care about the cheapest flight they can find...
This recently happened to a Dutch business contact coming back from China... He has now recovered but the incident was rather serious and he swears that he will not "go Dutch" ;) next time and will select the Business class option!!!
Regarding Alizé on COI routes, we always select this option (regular holiday destination for us), as husband would object on the price of Business class tickets for two... :(
