I will have 92 segments by the end of this year, 8 shy of CP.
Will US Air still upgrade me to CP, or am I out of luck?

It's an annual question, often answered with diverse and various stories of personal experience. In the end, the answer is, who knows? Certainly no one has been able to quote chapter and verse from policy. For some it has happened and for others not. There's theories on who gets it (based on revenue perhaps) and who does not.

What we know for sure this year is that when it's time to decide, it's a whole new ball game as that game will be played in Arizona and not Arlington for the first time. All bets are off.

My suggestion: do some cheap weekend shuttle runs (you say you're in NYC) or add unnecessary segments to whatever travel remains in 2005.

Thanks Envoy

That was what I thought. I might add some connecting flights, just to be sure.
Although I did notice that America West Platinum level is reached at 90 segments.

agree with the above comment. If you were a CP in the prior year (this year, I see you are silver) it would add to your case.
If you cannot do some segment additions, my other suggestion would be to get a "challenge". If i'm not mistaken, that usually is 20 segments in 3 months.

Just an FYI from an HP Plat. I only flew 4 months last year and thus only reached 50K and was given plat status based on my patterns of flying. I was also told by the agent (take this with a grain of salt) that HP if you are within 10% of the tier (segments or miles) they will automatically give it to you. I don't know if this is true or if it will remain if it is true but I do know they are pretty nice with their comp'd status when they can see you fly alot and are an asset to the company.

How do you know where you'll be between now and December 31? I don't even know where I'll be this coming Monday!

It also depends on whether you buy cheap tickets or expensive tickets. They track your revenue. That is how CP started for me a few years ago. I had high revenue--bought very expensive tickets and they contacted me. It worked because I have given them all of my business and have carryover now because of my loyalty.

I will be at a specific client through the end of the year, and fly 2 flights per week.

I'm a writer, and I have speaking engagements booked. However, I'm also not sure where I'll be this coming Monday--oops, that's already passed!--Wednesday.
