American Express Membership Rewards - Plat. Amex Skymiles Card

My wife was recently upgraded to a Plat Amex Skymiles card. They are going to give her 15,000 MQM's after the first use. She doesn't fly at all (got the card to get miles for her to get an award ticket) , those 15,000 MQM's could get me to silver medallion, so the question is will Amex transfer those to my skymiles acct instead of hers?

Of course not. Get your own card if you want your own MQMs.

Amex doesn't normally award 15k MQMs on the first purchase. Typically, you will get 15k Skymiles out of which only 5k qualify as MQMs. It may be a good idea to check that offer again. If it is indeed 15k MQMs, its fantastic!

I would call Amex. I am not sure they will let you do it on the opening bonus (we just moved ours also from Gold to Plat to get the bonus) but they did during routine use let us change which SM number the miles went to, so it cant hurt to ask overall about putting your SM number on it instead of hers.
