Hey folks,

I was looking to buy a new inverter since I lost the empower->cig adapter that's necessary for my APC TravelPower to work. :(

I was wondering if any of you experts had any thoughts if something that was a mere $14.99 would be safe to bring on board - in particular, this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/100-Watt-Cell-Phone-Car-Power-Inverter-AC-Adapter-NEW_W0QQitemZ6799567977QQcategoryZ60252QQssPageNam eZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This one should work with AA's outlets, but... well... is it safe?

Thanks!

It should be just fine. All the ports on the aircraft are well protected. Just make sure of 2 things:

Never load them over 75% of what they claim they can handle
Keep enough room around them to get rid of heat

How can you have "100 Watts for 30 minutes/85 Watts continuous"?

Heat.

It will run on 100 watts fine up to the point where it gets too hot to operate.
