Travel Technology - Bluetooth headset for VoIP?

We use the Cisco IP Communicator for the road warriors, which works out well and we have found several different (wired) headsets that work pretty well.

Anyone know of any bluetooth options? I paired my Moto HS850 BT headset that I use for my cell phone, but it doesn't seem to be recognized by any of the VoIP applications (Cisco IPC, Voipbuster, etc) as being a valid headset, so I'm guessing it isn't quite that easy as just using any 'ol BT headset.

Anyone know of any of have any recommendations?

Actually, whether or not it gets recognized probably depends on the Bluetooth settings on the PC.

On a decent Bluetooth setup the headset will be recognized as just another Audio device.

Make sure your Bluetooth software is up to date and that the Bluetooth audio device profile is setup. Then go to the multimedia settings under XP and select the Bluetooth device as your standard audio recording device.

Select the BT audio as your headset in the application, and you are good to go.

I have a different setup, using Skype instead of VoIP but I agree with ScottC. Once I set my SkyPE to use a BT device is was all using the windows pairing. Ive used a Jabra 200, Jabra Speaker 100 and Moto HS850 on the same computer.

I have an IBM laptop and haven't been able to make it work with the IBM/MS bluetooth stack. I think there might be some problem specific to that software that prevents my bluetooth headset from working with this.

I should specify that Im using a Dell Optiplex and a Belkin USB Bluetooth device.

Voipbuster works suprisingly well, once you give them the credit from your paypal account. I've used it a bunch of times with external USB headsets, no problem.

I used the Cisco IP Communicator for work stuff and Voipbuster for personal stuff. I don't know what their business model is, but free sure is nice.

Widcomm BT Stack

I use my Nokia HDW-2 with a Targus USB Bluetooth Adapter which uses the WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software version 4.0.1.700.
Works beautifully with skype and it only took me 5 minutes to set up. ^
