As convinient as T-mobile hotspots are, I feel that $30 per month is a bit too much, at least for my level of usage. Anyone know if there are any discount plans?

Several options: use the plan for T-mobile GSM subscribers, or if you don't subscribe yourself pay someone who does and use their account. Secondly; there are often free prepaid passes on networking products. Also; check Ebay every now and then. There are sometimes 7 day prepaid passes on sale.

I have a TMobile Blackberry account (and separate cell phone account). I added the Hotspots to my Blackberry account and since I had that account I think it was $10 off per month for the Hotspot account at the time I got it.

It's been mentioned before, but there's a code for a 30-day trial or something. Did a search, couldn't find it. Anyone know about it?

I am a t-Mo GSM subscriber and a HS subscriber. The cost is $20 / month without a commitment. I can add or remove it from my account at my choosing. Also, for existing GSM subscribers, the sign up bonuses are not available (5K AA or 5K DL etc...)

That is one of the unwritten tricks.

It is much cheaper to just add and remove when needed than to keep the service on your plan all month.

I wish y'all told me that before I bought a day pass at BWI! :p

It's alright, I got some good use out of it at BWI, DFW, and now SJC.

best thing, is get someone with a t-mo phone account to sign you up, for 20$ a month. turn on turn off at will.

there are 1, and 30 day free passes. A post in the coupon connection should yield one. I know about two weeks ago, there was an ft'er with a number of free day passes.

I thought there was a prepay full year package at $240. I can't seem to find it. Anyone know where it went?

I recall ScottC some time ago recommending that you pre-pay a friend $240 for turning on Hotspots on their T-Mobile cell phone account so that you can use the Hotspot deal yourself, but I don't recall T-Mobile offering an annual plan. They might have, but I don't recall one.

That is what I do, prepay 240$ a year, and they just keep it on their bill.
it's worked now for nearly three years that way.

Yeah. I will probably end up going with the friend route but I was pretty sure that there was a deal taht was offered for prepay. I guess I need to call Tmobile. Will update on my inquiry.

Question:

If I go the route of using my friends account. Won't I be able to see all of his private account information? Can it stay segregated?
