TravelBuzz - Where to sit in Y on Qantas 747-300?
Aug 26, 05, 5:39 pm
Next month, I have a NRT-SYD-NRT flight on QF. The flight is operated with a 747-300.
I will be traveling in coach/economy.
I am 6'5". Does anyone have any recommendations for the best seats for someone tall like me?

Do you plan on hijacking it?
I'd suggest the front of the plane in that circumstance.
if you decide to jump out the back hatch, then I'd get an exit-row seat.

Hello D.B. Cooper,
You can find the Qantas 743 seat map here (http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying/inTheAir/ourAircraft/seatMap743) (52 Business; 398 Economy - PDF).
As this is a 2 Class 747 there is no First Class. Business Class is in the nose and on the upperdeck. I have flown the 747 BNE and SYD a number of times so I can give you my seat recommendations. The 743 is a stunning plane and it will be sad to see it go.
ROW 20, 29, 46, 58. I like 20A as the cabin is usually quiet (as most PAX sit right at back of plane) although it is near the toilets. I would go for the emergency exit rows. I have never had a problem when flying QF and requesting exit rows - always had my request pleasantly accepted. Although they are greats seats they are near galleys and toilets (not a bother for me). And also note steer clear of window emergency exit seats as the door is quite intrusive on legroom as the slides are within the doors. Try for seats BCHJ.
I would steer clear from the back part of the plane, although if there is no choice but to sit there go for 70A as it's only 2 seats and you could put one leg to the side.
Your 743 will have slimline seats and PTVs (Newer than 744 PTVs but not as good as QF AVOD).
Hopefully for your sake you'll get a good seat. Got any status on QF?
Hope this helps you! Have a good flight
