Does anyone here have experience with any of the Centurion special events? There is one for this October in New York with Alain Ducasse and the head honcho at Chateau Latour that includes 10 different wine tastings of Latour vintages from 1955 to 1985 and a couple of newer vintages along with a six course meal prepared by Ducasse for the measly amount of $1850/person. At first it peaked my interest, but based on the number and the vintages chosen, this seems vastly overpriced. Have other folks had similar experiences, or does this appear to be an aberration?

Although such verticals haven't been offered to my knowledge in Switzerland therefore I haven't attended such an event organized by Centurion, I would pass. Such a vertical (I've seen the vintages offered but can't remember now) ex. Ducassed would be adequately priced at 250-300 EUR max over here and we all know what an accompanying meal at Ducasse would set you back for.

At this level I'd want to see some offered vintages replaced. I'd expect true rare vintages being offered to the Centurion audience.

I value the Centurion card but their wine related offers are way below par. For instance, when I've ordered vintage port on their site, the concierge service wasn't even able to tell me the vintage

Event the recent Roederer offer wasn't accompanied by vintage information (it turned out to be the '97) Room for improvement here.

Pass.

Btw - I had attended an event in '94 organized by Marvin Shanken "Dinner of the Century in Paris" at Ducasse. There were three Chefs cooking for the event ie. Ducasse, Robuchon and Braun. A Lafite from the '20ies (if memory serves) was a highlight. Plus the first Trinidad offer many years prior commercial release as well as Cohibas pyramids etc rolled just for the event etc. etc. All for 1000 USD. Granted some time passed since (inflation)

Now that would be the kind of event I'd expect from Centurion...

Just noticed your post on another board. Plenty of excellent answers and there seems to be consensus...
