I am hoping to go in the spring, and am heavily leaning towards booking with Peregrine, based on a friend's experience. Has anyone else traveled with them or have any comments?

Yes. See the Antarctica Marathon trip report below..... Peregrine handled the voyage from Ushuaia to the continent and back. Excellent experience. I would certainly use them again.

Bumping my own thread. I booked with Peregrine for the March 10, 2006 departure a couple weeks ago. Got the confirmation and bought airfare, etc. Tonight, my travel agent called and announced they cancelled the departure. They are offering me a slot on March 5 with an upgrade (all of a $300 value). I'm going to see if they can make me whole on all the money I am out (trip insurance wont cover carrier cancelled trip). On the whole though, I am tremendously disappointed with Peregrine right now.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties with Peregrine. I ran into a number of people who had travelled with them on my way back from Ushuaia. They all seemed to be rather happy with their trip. So, despite your difficulties, I'm sure you'll have a good time once you make it on the ship.

Perhaps if they won't give you the cash to cover the necessary changes to your flight arrangments, you can get them to comp you the same amount in shipboard credit - it'll at least cover your drinking, laundry, and souvenirs from the ship store.

Hi,

I ran the 2005 Antarctica Marathon and we had a lot of problems. I am not sure if it was Peregrine or Marathon Tours but there were a lot of screw ups with flights, rooms and not much good food after a few days on board. Hopefully it'll all go along smoothly.

Cread,
Welcome to FlyerTalk. I too did the 2005 marathon, and I had no troubles with Peregrine or Marathon Tours. Which ship were you on? I was on the Ioffe.
