Hey All:

Just planning my next vacation...

Other than the Hawaiin resorts (which I just stayed at), what is your favorite Hilton resort?

My vote would be for St. Lucia if you are going without kids. not that my kids wouldn't have liked it, but not much to do for them there.

Especially the 360 resort views.

If you want to stay somewhere other than a beach resort, my best would be Conrad Mount Juliet in Ireland, if you golf that would make it even better.

I hate to be at the mercy of the resort in isolated places like St. Lucia or the Maldives.

You've got HI, I would vote for the Caribe in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is the most unappreciated island in the Caribbean IMO.

The Hilton Resort in Cancun. It was a Westin Property up until about four years ago - need I say more?

One mayn't be a captive of the Caribe Hilton, but it isn't a particularly good hotel, either.

It isn't bad, it's just...okay. The beach is awful.

I would second St. Lucia, even with kids. You are isolated though.

I would like to put my 2 cents in.

I have 2 Fav's : Hilton Cancun and Los Cabo Hilton.
http://www.hiltoncancun.com
http://www.hiltonloscabos.com

Also, you can't go wrong with The Key West Hilton.

I get bored easy, that's why I didn't put down St Lucia.

Also, to help the search when are you going on vacation? With Kids ? Starting point ?

keywest,
Have you had your trip to Los Cabos yet? Let us know what it was like if you have.
Thanks.

As I am presently sitting here in my room at HWV and checking out the days conversation on FT I got to thinking what do the folk's here think are the best Hilton resorts worldwide?

Not that it is the best resort in the world, but I feel we certainly received a good value with our points by staying at the Hilton Key West which is expensive. Other guests paid $400 per night. I missed a beach there - but we did visit Sunset Key Island for a day on a beach, and had a magnificent 20 year anniversary dinner at Lattitude's over on Sunset Key. Tell us about your experience at HWV!! :)

The best: Well what are you looking for. Hiking - golfing - the beach - exotic location - the view - skiing - pampering - ability to shop - in town - in the country bah, bah, bah.

Is it just for you - you and your spouse - spouse and kids - multiple couples or families.

Give us more about what you looking.

My favorites is USA/Canada is the Valdora Lodge in Colorado and Caribe in PR.

In the real world Phuket Arcadia Resort, Hilton Maldives, and Dubai are places I would love to return or go.

Checking the HHonors site, it doesn't appear as if you can book an award stay at the Valdora Lodge as it is a Grand Vacations Resort. Is that correct?

HWV does not compare to the likes of Hilton Maldives, Hilton Mauritius, etc.

I liked the Hilton Los Cabos last Labor Day, though Cabo isn't a place I desire to go back to.

Will report on my Labor Day stay this year in Phuket when I return.

So far Conrad Bali or the new Hilton Barbados, but HWV was nice but needed a little work when we were there.... But dreaming of the Hilton Maldives, Conrad Phuket, Mariutus w/the more I read on FT the more to dream about!

HWV is by far the best Hilton in the U.S. But other locations outside of the country do exceed it in luxury and service.

I've accumulated about 400k points and I'd like to use them to take my familty to a Hilton family beach resort in either the Carribean or Florida. There are five of us, so I'd prefer either a Hilton all-suites hotel or an Embassy Suites, but I guess that could just go the 2-room route.

I haven't stayed at any Hilton resorts. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can get the best bang for my points taking into consideration my 5 family member situation?

I just got back with my family of 5 from the Hilton Beach Resort in Hilton Head,SC and all of the rooms were very big. Nice pools / Nice beach.

I have also recently visited the Hilton in Cancun Mexico - also very nice pool / nice beach

Just my 2 cents !

Scott :)

Thanks but I'm silver, so I guess that I would need to book two rooms. Probably not the best use of points?

If you've never been to Myrtle Beach SC, the Embassy Suits there is fabulous. Great "water works" area for the kids as well as nice pools for adults. Right on the ocean. Myrtle is also an excellent place for kids/teens. Plenty to do.

It looks like Marco Island is the recommendation here, BUT they only allow 4 in a junior suite and I can't upgrade since I'm only Silver.

Not in your area, but I really liked the one in Cabo. Stayed there in 2003, less than a year after it opened.

The Hilton Waikola Resort on the Big Island in Hawaii is by far the nicest North American Hilton proeprty that I've seen.

It's not in the Florida / Carib area, but it's worth the longer flight IMHO.

thanks, but it sort of defeats the purpose of points - to save money! Free hotel, but expensive flight.

My vote is also Barbados Hilton! I'm Gold, and we were given a 2 room suite. Large King bedroom with large bath and seperate living room w/pull out bed and additional bathroom.

If you don't have the Am Ex, apply and your eligible for the AXON rewards for 4 nights for 125,000, so if you have to get 2 rooms it's a few less point.
