I recently had a bad Hampton experience in Orlando, Florida and emailed Custoemr Support from the Contact Us section fo the Hampton Inn web page a month ago but never got a response. Is this typical of Hampton's email customer support?

I don't know if it is typical or not...

IMO, if it was bad enough it would probably have been best to invoke the 100% guarantee to either have your stay comped or at least a night, if your stay was for more than one night.

I would call the hotel directly and you could maybe get the issue addressed there. Although having had a month pass, I don't know what they would offer you.

Never hurts to try though.

I too have had a bad experience in Orlando and got the 100 percent money back guarantee but did it within the first week. Why dont you call customer care directly. I have found Hampton personnel at Headquarters to be outstanding but maybe too much time has gone by?

For either poster that had a bad time in Orlando, just curious - which HI was it?
I was not impressed with the Altamonte Springs HI and was wondering if it was that one.

I'd e-mail them again. I had a pretty lousy stay at the HI BWI, wrote out a detailed list of the accomodations' shortcomings, and they comped me a "Be My Guest" free night certificate. No reponse after a week, I'd follow it up with a call and get a name to send your complaint to if possible. I'm all for paper trails on these things, be they "electronic" paper or not.

As an Honors Diamond VIP member, I have noticed that most of the Hamptons are not recognizing me lately on check in, nor are the rooms set up with the expected complimentary water bottle and snack.
As Hilton always sends an automatic thank you for staying e-mail after each stay, I have been responding to the auto e-mail's and letting them know that Hampton has been falling down on their services to Diamond VIPs. In the last two weeks, I've been at a Hampton in Kansas City Airport, Baltimore Airport, and Manchester, CT. The only response I have received so far is a full credit for my night in Kansas City. I sent a followup e-mail regarding the Baltimore Airport issue and recieved (a presumably outsourced because of the name) reply stating that my concern there would be looked into again. I have heard nothing about the Manchester, CT stay.
The program works if you stay on top of it. It seems it needs to be reinforced from the top

Ditto with me; I've been Diamond for three years. I'm seeing more and more of not being recognized as a Diamond, with no Welcome Back note in my room nor a welcome water and snack, let alone a room upgrade. Last time this happened was at the Spokane Hampton, where I've probably stayed over 100 nights in the last 8 years. I got the "How did we do?" email a couple of days after my stay, and I told them. An automated response comes back, saying I'll be contacted within 3 days. After a week, I forward my response again to the email address, and about 3 days after that the manager of the Spokane Hampton calls. He was very concerned, but interestingly enough, offered nothing as far as remuneration. I'll go back again to see if things are better, otherwise..........

For those who are frustrated with the lack of response, have you tried flyertalk@hilton.com? Adam Burke set it up especially for us. I'm curious as to whether you get "heard" by writing to it any better than the channels you are currently using.

I thought it was just me, but apparently not. I've been a Diamond member for 10 years. Over the past 6-9 months I've noticed that most of the time (80%+) I no longer receive the "Hampton Touch". This has happened at Hamptons in Fort Worth, Charlotte, and a few other places. My Diamond number was in every reservation so that isn't it.

In addition, I responded to one of the "If you're not satisfied" e-mails about a stay back in March at the Hampton Inn Fort Worth Southwest. Mrs. MileKing and I have stayed at this property a number of times over the last few years and have begun to notice that the property is starting to show its age. Nothing terrible, but in need of a deep cleaning and grout work in the bathroom and some worn bed linens/bed spread that should probably be replaced. My e-mail wasn't even a complaint and I certainly wasn't asking for any type of compensation. I merely wanted to alert the GM of the property as to my view having stayed at that property a number of times. Diamond Services e-mailed back saying they were concerned and would be opening a complaint with corporate, as well as contacting the property. Well, that was the last I ever heard. I am surprised that once Diamond Services said they were escalating my note, that I never heard from anyone again. You would think someone would at least follow-up.

Coupled with the continued Rolling Tier issues and the saga of the PointStretcher list that could never seem to post, I have to agree that HHonors and Hilton service overall has gone into a steep decline.

For those not seeing their snack anymore, check your hilton profile and make sure you have the snack selected and not the extra bonus miles, if you arent aware of this within the last month or so they gave us the option of extra points/miles in lieu of our "perks" and you get to choose by each brand (for me the water and cookies was not as tempting as the extra points). It may have defaulted on yours to the extra points when they set it up so that could be why you arent seeing your water or cookie.

I'm Gold and I don't see this choice, only a choice to select my double-dip.

No, this isn't the problem. Although those options are available to me, my profile does not have the extra points selected.

I'm gold and I do have that option. I can change my preferences by logging in and choosing the "My Profile" tab. The option is right underneath the "Double Dip Earnings Style" section, and there's an edit button.

It should be noted that this is just for "participating" locations, and there is a list.

There has only been one HI where I did not have the HI Touch in the room (Vero Beach, but they gladly provided it when asked for it).

However, I have noticed that when there are 3 people staying in the room, they provide one water and one snack. When there is one person staying in the room, they provide one water and one snack. Is this normal, where they do not provide for the number of people actually in the room (and yes, it was reserved for 3 people)?

No major deal, until you see 3 thirsty people fighting over 1 bottle of water, with the losers resigned to the tap in the bathroom.

One bottle and snack per room are normal under the new setup. In years past before things were more standardized by brand I often got 2 bottles at HI. But no more.

As a Diamond I pretty much try and avoid the HI :td: product totally. Usually for just a couple $'s more I can stay at one of the other brands and be reasonably sure that I will be treated far better. The 500 vs 100 miles offset most of the extra $'s.

If you ask for more water they're usually quite happy to give out an extra bottle.

I just stayed at an HI in Gulfport, MS. The walls were very thin and the noise coming from the next room, filled with about 8 people, kept us awake late into both nights. We called repeatedly to the front desk but the noise never stopped. Additionally, we had many other complaints about the room. During one of my complaining calls, I asked what would happen if I invoked the 100% Guarantee when paying with points and was told the points would be credited. When checking out, I did ask to invoke the guarantee. The front desk clerk asked the reason. I gave her the reasons, and she said "OK." Then she turned around and did something out of sight and said, "Ok then, here's your reciept." The receipt showed nothing but I assumed she had done something since she led me to believe she was agreeing with me and since she gave no contradicting argument. But now I find that nothing has been done. She was just trying to get rid of me, basically performing a sleight of hand. I was very nice in relating my problems and had shown nothing but patience my whole stay. It just does not seem like a Hilton attitude at all when they simply want to get you out of their face.

One problem though - when I hit the "Edit" button for "VIP In-Hotel Benefit Preferences" I'm taken to a page to select my Double-Dip Earnings Style Preference. I tried the Double-Dip Edit button instead, but I still got to that page.

Personally, I like Hampton Inns. Yes, I'll choose another brand if it's within my price range, but it usually isn't. I'd guess that about half my stays were in Hamptons.

I made Diamond earlier this year, thanks to the wonderful rolling tier qualification program, so I'm going for Marriott Gold as well. I'm staying in a Fairfield Inn this week. Trust me, if you're complaining about Hamptons, try out a Fairfield sometime. Outside entryways (meaning that in my first-floor room, the only thing separating me from someone who wanted to hurt me was my thin hotel room door), thin walls and ceilings (my upstairs neighbor seems to have moved out this morning, thank goodness), room feels like a Motel 6 (small desk, bed, chair, tiny bathroom, not even a real closet), unreliable wireless Internet, lots of kids running around at all hours, very limited breakfast, etc, etc. I stayed at the Hampton down the road when I was here a few months ago, and it was worlds better.

Hamptons are far from perfect, but they usually aren't bad for the price, compared to the competition.

Mine has three tabs at the top of the page where I can change the Double Dip Earnings Style. There's that one, the VIP Hotel Benefit Preferences, and one for My Way email preferences. I'd suggest calling customer service or emailing them if you don't have the other tabs.

Although I haven't heard anything specific, I would be willing to bet this won't be a problem, at least not for a long time. Maybe once they have rebuilt the property they will have better walls.

I recently had a bad Hampton experience

As a London Cockney geezer, I'd just like to point out that "Hampton" is an abbreviation of the Cockney rhyming slang for, well it's obvious: "Hampton Wick" rhymes with pr**k. So the OP had a bad "Hampton" experience did he ? :D :D

I recommend a trip to Amsterdam to get him back on track ;)
