Has anyone stayed here recently? They are offering an attractive Point Stretcher Award, but then I am not familiar with where this hotel is in the city... I usually stay at the HGI Franklin Square, but that's on the company's bill. Any opinions good or bad are appreciated - my search turned up a thread from 2003, I am keeping my fingers crossed that they may have fixed things in a year and a half....

I like the hotel, often is priced right and itsa only 10-15 min Metro trip to the HGI or Capitol Hilton area etc. Do a search "doubletree crystal" or whatever.

Not bad; good location to Crystal City and Pentagon City Metro stops (5 to 10 minutes walk). Gym needs updating for sure. Ask for a room facing the Washington Monument. Nice views of planes flying into DCA if you're lucky.

Stayed many times. Good location in Arlington VA. Very convenient to the metro at either pentagon city or crystal city stops, and also convenient to the freeway into downtown DC. The hotel is generally nice, though the facilities (like the gym) are a bit minimal. There is no exec lounge but as a gold was given a suite with a nice balcony and a snack plate with fruit and cheese on arrival.

I haven't stayed here in a while, but like this poster, I was given a suite, with a HUGE balcony and a snack plate on arrival.
The suite I had reminded me of a room at an Embassy Suite (parlor-bathroom-bedroom layout) and in my opinion, the furniture was very dated and cheap. The TV in the parlor was BOLTED to a table and couldn't be moved. There were burns in the furniture. The only word I can use to describe the room is "yesh" :(
As a Diamond I also go vouchers for breakfast in the restaurant. I've never tried any of the other amenities of this property.
This property usually has very low rates, I however, wouldn’t stay here more than one night.
