I was thinking that it would be advantageous for FTers to have a thread on chains that give credit for stays and nights when booking through airlines vacation packages/deals or 3rd party sites. I'm pretty sure that *wood doesn't give stays or nights for purchases anywhere except spg.com and its sister sites. What about the other big groups? Hilton, Hyatt, InterContinental, Marriott, and Wyndham? I figure that none of them do. TIA
According to Hilton's Web site, you can get points for stays booked through airline sites.

I booked a package through Delta's site with a Holiday Inn close to LAX. They turned down my request to even enter my PC# into the reservation. Desk clerk claimed that it was third party. I'm sure that this can vary amongst properties though.

Marriott will not for third parties 99.9% of the time. That is because the third parties don't want you to know how much they maid off of you. Since @ Marriott you get points per $$. They don't want you to know that they charged you 109.00 but they only paid 85.00 to marriott and they made $24.00 off of you.
As Hilton I believe only gives out a fixed amount of points per stay they can do it.

Two weeks ago I had a 3 night stay at the Las Vegas Hilton as part of a United Vacations package (air, car, hotel) Upon checkin, I gave my HHonors gold number. I got credit for a "stay" (in Hilton lingo) and I earned points for what I charged to the room (theater tickets, meal, internet access). I did not get points for the cost of the hotel room. Because I was HHonors gold, I asked for and received a room upgrade. The package included a run of the house room.
