I am considering staying at one of these hotels in a week or so.
I want to find out about the service and amenities at these hotels. I am a HHonors Gold member - so I suspect I can be upgraded to the executive floor at the Hilton Hotel, and also have access to the lounge.
Is there a coffee shop at the Hilton Hotel - we are a party of 3, including my 9 yr old daughter - so I am not too interested in a fancy restaurant.
Do both hotels have 24 hr shuttle service to the airport? Can one also walk from the Hilton to the airport if one has several pieces of baggage/luggage - what is the distance?
Can one go to downtown on the subway - how easy is it to reach downtown this way, compared to a car?
I understand that both hotels charge for parking!?
Are there any special discounts (the only one I have is CAA/AAA) that one can obtain at either hotel?

The Hilton at the airport is very nice. It is also connected to a terminal at BOS. You could walk if you wanted. There is a coffee shop. Executive floor is very nice. Subway is very close, hotel has a shuttle that will take you to it.

Ditto all the above, although a glance at a BOS terminal map would be a good idea before walking to the hotel as it is quite a hike from some areas. They do have a shuttle. We were there last week and have always enjoyed the exec. lounge... it has a great view. You will find "homemade" cookies there in the afternoon, mini-meal service with two hot entrees around 5:30 and more cookies/pastries later in the evening. Continental breakfast is also served. You may not need the coffee shop if only staying one or two nights and are planning to be out somewhere for lunch.

I've had good stays at the Hilton. It's a very nice property. The restaurant is reasonably good--fine for a 9-year-old. Not fancy. The shuttle is great. I've never parked there, since I've only been at that property on a quick no-rental-car stay in Boston. The T is convenient. And why would you drive downtown in Boston if you had a choice? If you're planning to drive other places, then you might do it, but if not, skip the car/parking trouble and take public transportation or a taxi.

I have stayed at the Hilton, and agree it is a very nice airport hotel. Never went to the Embassy, but why is the ES cat 6 and the Hilton cat 5? Hilton has the new La Source Crabtree and Evelyn lotions (at least on the exec floor), and also had the e-check in(but front desk did not know anything about it at the time - 4 weeks ago). The T is nice, but it took me 1 hour to get out to Harvard (between shuttle and 3 T lines). Can't beat the price, 1.25, a taxi would be at least 30$.

You might want to try that search function for answers to these questions. Lots of threads.

I found the Logan Hilton to be a very solid choice. The breakfast buffet was not only excellent, it was downright cheap (like $11 or something). Great staff, nice lounge, good rooms, convenient location to the airport and the subway (via free shuttle bus).

As noted in other threads, the Hilton is the nicest airport property, altho the Hyatt has the best views. Unless you are flying Delta, which now operates in new terminal which is closest to hotel, the hotel shuttle is best and quickest way to get to terminals. (The Hilton has the best shuttle service of all the airport hotels - that's one reason why I stay there.) Sign at hotel last week indicated that valet parking is $30 per night, not sure about self-parking rate. Because of high occupancy almost every night, there are very few discounts available these days.

I always choose the Hilton for BOS stays - you can walk with a rollaboard to the terminals easily, shuttle to the T (metro) or the ferry to downtown Boston, the usual lounge concierge is super-helpful, brekkies is nice, view is spectacular at sunset (and sunrise) - all in all a pretty decent and convenient place to stay.
I got to Jonesing some seafood one afternoon, and just wandered over to Terminal C, pre-departure (land-side) food court for some Legal Sea Foods (http://www.legalseafoods.com/) - the Arctic char was very nice!

Yes, the arctic char is nice....
I've stayed at both and prefer the ES because of the free high speed internet and free full breakfast. A little further than the Hilton, but both offer free and frequent shuttles.

go for the Hilton. Exec floor is very nice, view of Boston skyline from the lounge. You should get an upgrade as Gold, check-in on the 10th floor, this helps.

I travel to Boston fairly often and usually stay at the airport Hilton. Great staff and I think one of their better properties. The coffee shop is nice and so is the lounge. Staff very helpful. I always walk there from the terminal but they have a free shuttle as well. I'll be back there next week and looking forward to it. They have a special offer for diamonds (& maybe for golds) on the web site. You get to choose whether you want wine or cookies or something for each stay. It's a very nice extra. Highly recommend this hotel. ^

Ditto on the Hilton - an excellent choice. And if you don't want the full breakfast, there is a small Starbucks-like kiosk with a variety of hot and cold drinks, pastries, muffins, and other light breakfast items.

You can't go wrong with either. Personally, I like the Embassy Suites. They always upgrade me to the Oriental Suite, with giant conference table (not that I need it). The staff is pleasant and always willing to help (where to find Chinese food at 2am--delivered right to my door and great). Have been stuck there during winter blizzards and shuttle service to the T was great. They continued to honor my reservations with the poor weather.
Company usually sets me up at one of the two Ritz-Carltons, but I love staying at the airport Embassy Suites for points and ease of making 6am flights out of Logan.

Stayed at the Hilton twice earlier this month based on the recommendations here. The 3rd is the only smoking floor, which means you're not going to get any views if you're a smoker. The lounge has a view of the DL terminal and the city skyline and the staff is very helpful. The breakfast was ok, nothing great, but the afternoon cookies were amazing.
The walk from the E terminal is easy with a rollaboard, and the shuttles are very frequent - I never had to wait more than a couple of minutes at the C terminal, T station or the lobby.
The only bad thing about this hotel is the wireless broadband access. It was pathetic in the rooms - signal strength was always strong but some websites would just not load. Access in the lounge was marginally better, but I still had recurring 3-4 minute periods when nothing would load. Called the helpdesk on several occasions (my stays were a week apart so it couldn't have been an isolated incident) but all they could say was that it must be an ISP issue.

It's quite a hike to the C concourse (United) - includes cutting across acres of parking garage - certainly not advised if one has multiple bags.
I have general disdain for a $180/night property that charges $15 for Wireless when its cheaper partner Hampton gives it away for free.
Last time I was there I had a 6AM flight and nothing was open, including the coffee stand on the lobby floor.
But it's definitely a very nicely appointed property, and the rooms are definitely quite good.

And doesn't the Hilton have that cool channel that shows the current flight arrival/departure status at BOS, along with an audio feed from air traffic control?

The lounge staff is exceptionally nice ^ , especially in the evening. 3/4 times I was told 'you are all set' when trying to pay for my wine in the evening :D . I can highly recommend this property.

Thy used to. the last time I was there (1/05), it had been disconnected. The stupid provider (Industrial Television Services) could not keep the data flow operational via a ***** phone modem. I called about it numerous times, and took weeks for them to finally "resolve it" - then it still broke down.
