Have done several searches on Dub-LHR for several dates on standard fares, each time the fare is Eur 271 return m class, looks like this is the minimum I am going to have to pay to have lounge access, unbelievable!!

Not quite. The following makes no commercial sense from BMI's perspective, but appears to be true:

1. You still get lounge access on ANY ticket for travel before 1 November 2005.

2. After 1 November 2005, tiny fares get no lounge access. By definition, tiny fares can only be purchased from the BMI website. If you go to another website (www.opodo.co.uk, www.expedia.co.uk, lastminute.com, etc) and pay 5-10 pounds more for your W, V, H, Q ticket, then you have a Standard Fare and get lounge access.

3. Alternatively, buy any Lufthansa codeshare fare. None of the Lufthansa fares are tiny fares.

All of the above is subject to change as BMI work out what they are doing, but for now there you go.

In due course, there is also a plan to make lounge access available for a fee.

Thanks for reply just did a search on www.opodo.co.uk and got a return fare for Eur 178 and as only BMI sell tiny fares this must be an economy fare. 178 versus 271, a big difference, got to be a catch surly, does not give class of fare.
Also checked Lufthansa and got fare of Eur191 fare class q qnd w, again big difference but these would be earning miles I assume, if I purchase this fare will I get lounge access on a Lufthansa fare, I am a silver card. Thanks
