Has anyone got the online "reward booking" thing to work?

From their home page, you go to "Reward Booking". As a member, you can then get quotes for airfares - special deals quoted in airmiles and prices. For example they are quoting a special promotion of 7777miles for a C class trip on the new 777 service to London.

But whatever promotion I select, the site just crashes out with an error page (a bit like a page not found error, but its in chinese so I'm not sure what it says). This happens on the English version of their site and the Chinese. (The error page is always in Chinese.)

I have pre-registered to use the facility (which I think is necessary).

As for "Hot Tickets", after "searching" for special fares between two cities there is a pause and the display just reverts to asking me for my two cities again.

Maybe these things are more reliable on Chinese configured PCs. I've used XP and Windows2000 on different PCs - still I get these problems (although Hot Tickets used to work in the past).

I've managed to get tickets online from Eva before - but I have found it an unreliable process.

Yes, I was able to use reward booking just now. However, I did not find the offer you mentioned. I only found Premium Laurel for NT$79,777 + 7,777 Miles + Tax.

I was using a Windows 2000 English system. Maybe you can try it again?

I didn't think that you can make a reward booking online.
After logging in if you go on reward tickets it just takes you to a page where it explains how to order reward tickets.
Maybe I am missing something and they do allow booking of reward travel online.
Booking regular revenue tickets I never had a problem online.
However on some days it does come up with an error message and certain city pairs are not available online either, which I wish they were like YVR-TPE-SYD.

After logging in do you go to "Award Tickets"?
Even from there it doesn't give any options to book an award ticket.
Could you explain how you did that?
Thanks

This feature isn't for booking an award ticket. The wording on EVA Air's website is terrible.

I guess you could call this a "special mileage award," which requires some mileage and a monetary co-payment. To access, just click "Reward Booking" on the front page or https://ffp.evaair.com/online/html/english/plan/EIBSA007.asp

EVA Air does not have a feature to request upgrades or book award tickets online yet. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks very much for the clarification.
I didn't even know about the "Reward Booking"- no specials on right now out of Vancouver but very good to know for the future.
If you book one of the specials - mileage + $ do you still get to collect ff miles?
Thanks again.

The English version of the "Special Reward Booking" still doesnt seem to be working properly - at least for this offer on Taipei/London. It bombs out after you select between the two offers available (one for First Class, one for the new Elite). Tried on a few PCs now - English and Chinese windows, XP and 2000.

The English offer has two columns - one labelled "purchase with miles" and another "pre-tax fare". Indeed you have to pay both, as well as the tax, as "Eva Air" says....

The Chinese version is working. My Chinese friend was sufficiently convinced that the wording meant you could get a Business class ticket for 7777 miles only that she called them. (I told her about "EVA Air's" post and my gut feeling the offer was too good to be true anyway, but she insisted that the Chinese meant that.)

You see after accepting the offer (which implies in Chinese that the price shown is the "normal" price, and the offer is for the "miles" amount, not that you pay both), you get to a screen where you agree to the mileage deduction - you must agree to this before proceeding. Again the wording implies that the miles deduction is the total cost of the ticket. Nothing is mentioned here about paying more. So it seems you would get past this point of no return before realising you have to pay cash as well.

When she called Eva in Taipei, they said they weren't aware of this offer and transferred her around a bit before asking her to fax a printout from the website. After they received the fax, they called back (from Taoyuan) and said they were very sorry. They agreed it was misleading. They confirmed that indeed you have to pay the fare quoted and the tax too.

The offers are still there. Still not bad in my opinion. TPE/LHR return :

7777 miles+NT$79777 + tax for business class 15Sep to 31Dec departure
30,000miles + NT$91,000 + tax for first until 30Nov departure

Both 1 year tickets. Advertising "First" is a bit cheeky though - this is discontinued on 15Sep!

I do wish though the wording on the website was improved though! (and it was debugged..)
