After two full bidding rejections, I got this hotel. Today I had first bid $60 for a 4* in Toronto DT and got rejected. PL offered me a "free" rebid if I agreed to add $17 to my bid. I turned them down and just added a zone to my original bid and upped my bid by only $2. It worked. ^

So we're off to see the Yankees in Toronto. :)

Don't know anything about the hotel, but 4* for 62 bucks always sounds like a great deal! Good going refusing the counter offer. The truth is always somewhere between your last bid price and the amount they tell you to bid, often much closer to your last bid price as you well found out. You're a real pro at this now.

Now, about that reason for your trip.... :p

I stayed at that Sheraton in May and got it for a very similar price through priceline. The reason it's so cheap....? They're refurbishing the lobbies and entrance areas (edited to add: although I guess they may have finished by the time you get there.)

The Sheraton Center has been going at this price for quite a long time now (much before the renos started) -- Toronto just seems to be a golden city for 3*/4* Priceline stays.

Could be something to do with the Canadian Peso perhaps.

That price is AMAZING for Sheraton Centre in Toronto! The location is excellent and the hotel has a indoor/out-door pool. I think the lobby reno is done. GOOD SCORE ^

I've stayed there; very nice hotel. :) Just remember to not hesitate to ask for a different room if you smell smoke from having been a smoking room or if they put you near the pool/health club.

I was hoping the property would be great as I would like to go swimming and relax while my husband visits the hockey hall of fame. I have zero interest in that. :D I do have an interest in luxuriating.

If I smell a smoky room, I always request a switch. Thank you for the tidbit about the locale near the pool. I guess it gets a bit loud there from the heavy traffic. After Priceline matched me with this Sheraton, I called the hotel and requested a room on a high floor. No guarantees obviously.

I have gotten this hotel for $40 in the past. yes the $62 rate due to the "lira' effect.

This is great news as we are not renting a car. Given what gas now costs today here in NY, I wonder how marked up the prices are in Toronto.

Did the price make a huge jump this week to get to that figure or has the price been like that for some time?
