Northwest WorldPerks (Discontinued Program) - Status match with NWA

I'm looking to change from United Airlines. I'm completely sick of only getting to fly first a few times a year. I'm Premiere Executive on UA and have already status matched about two months ago with Continental. My status with them, however, will expire by the end of October. I was falsely under the impression that I would have it through next year to give me a full year chance to accumulate status with CO.
I'm wondering if I could just status match with NW instead. They don't offer the reduced reward mileage flights and my experiences with them have been great. I'm hoping that there is some cutoff where they will match my status now and give me status throughout next year. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks.

Check the Status Match master thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/milesfr.shtml) in milesbuzz .
Additionally NW Asia is offering temporary Gold elite status (no match required) but you will need an Asian mailing address. There is another thread in the NW forum about this.

I don't believe NW (or any other airline for that matter) will comp you through the end of next year. It would be for the remainder of this year only, and you'll have to accumulate 25K EQM's by year end to requalify for '06. If I were you, I'd use the CO comp for this year and comp to NW in January '06.

If you ask for a match in the later part of the year (Usually Sept-Oct), most will give you status for the following year as well. I've gotten matched on HP and UA in late Sept/early Oct, and got it for almost a year and a half.
I'd call Continental and see if they'd extend it to the full calendar year to give you the opportunity to requalify for that level. I'm sure if they think they can get more business out of you, they could extend your comp by a few months.
Maybe if you have some CO tickets purchased for later in the year, that would serve to reinforce your argument. Even if those tickets are refundable and you end up returning them later due to your change in travel needs.
Just a thought.

that's probably your best bet. NW and CO, to my knowledge, share elite info because of their partnership and may not comp you based on your CO comp.

I can confirm from trying - NWA won't comp for Continental Elite because of their close partnership.
