Flying Blue (Air France & KLM) - Fast track to Gold/Plat. ?

I am both Star Alliance Gold (UA 1K) and Oneworld Emerald (AA Exec Plat.) Would AF/KL fast track my account to Gold or even better Platinum as a low level silver?

I don't think this is a common practice. You don't fly UA or AA by chance. If you live in Paris and are a UA / AA elite passenger, that means that you very often fly AA and UA and I am quite sure it is because they are cheaper than AF. (that's what I am regularly being told by my corporate TA. A connecting flight on BA, UA or AA is ALWAYS cheaper than a non-stop flight on AF, particularly in business class. So they never book us on AF to the US). Of course AF know this perfectly well and on the US they don't chase the CDG-based customer but rather the LHR-based, the GVA-based, the FRA-based... do they really have chances to get your business on your US flights? That is the only question that matters.

Then what about someone in my situation? I have two *A Gold cards, both SK and LH. I typically fly on LH to Asia or North America with a connection in FRA, but there is usually also an option to connect in AMS or CDG with KL or AF. The fact that I have no status with SkyTeam and thus no lounge access etc. is a major reason for why I choose to fly with LH. Would Flying Blue give me gold status for free just based on my status with StarAlliance?

Yes you are probably right being based in Paris is not going to help...however I could easily base myself officially in Tokyo. Do you think I would have better chances to be fast tracked?

Under normal KL rules its better you dont mention you might actually fly and spend money with them as this will seriously detract from you achieving top tier stautus and a bucket load of free miles. If you are loyal to them and spend a fortune this is the key to them treating you like s H 1 t, making it impossible to use your miles and makng you realise what a fool you have been for wasting so much money chasing a worthless bit of plastic
