Anyone care to guess whether the merger will eliminate or reduce the liberal elite matching program HP has offered in the past? Is US liberal with matching elite status from other airlines?

Is US liberal with matching elite status from other airlines? kanerf Jul 24, 05, 5:10 pm US seems quite liberal with matching. They matched my Delta Silver with no problem. I did not try with my HP Silver. TopGun Jul 24, 05, 7:35 pm I just mailed out my package, I'll let you know how I make out. TopGun Aug 13, 05, 2:28 pm Here it is, August 13, and still have not been matched. I called Dividend Miles and they asked me to give it another week before they take more extremme measures. He sounded like he was willing to help but said it takes about 4 weeks to go through the system. Robertsonland Aug 13, 05, 2:46 pm Here it is, August 13, and still have not been matched. I called Dividend Miles and they asked me to give it another week before they take more extremme measures. He sounded like he was willing to help but said it takes about 4 weeks to go through the system. I never mailed anything out fot Status match to USAir. I'm HP Plat and faxed my stuff over to Carole Blazer. After a couple days I emailed to see if they had gotten everything I need and they replied that I was matched to Gold Preferred. Shouldn't take 4 weeks. Lance willy-mac Aug 14, 05, 7:15 pm I'm not surprised that US is slow to acknowledge a comp. I've given up on US and will not fly them again until HP takes over and all of the idiots in CCY are parachuted to places unknown. GotCalcio4 Aug 15, 05, 1:55 am Several years ago when I first started flying US, I simply faxed my HP statement and a copy of my HP elite membership card right over to the US Dividend Miles service center. The next day I had a message waiting on my answering machine from someone at US saying they had given me the Silver-Silver elite match, no problems at all. You will be comped probably the next day. asnovici Aug 15, 05, 11:20 am When is the best time to fax credentials for match with US? I am going to be matching NW Gold to US Gold, and want to maximize the Elite status period (that is for it to go for the full next year, not just till Feb 28 2006)? I know when matching to HP the best time to submit everything is in late September, any experiences with US? I would imagine that at some point soon US will just stop doing them until after the merger, so I'd get on it. asnovici Aug 15, 05, 11:47 am Send it now. Matches being done now are valid until 02/07. AZ, are you absolutely sure about this? If this is correct, thats fantastic news, I am just being a bit cautious AZ Travels the World Aug 15, 05, 11:53 am AZ, are you absolutely sure about this? If this is correct, thats fantastic news, I am just being a bit cautious Well, I have a card to prove it. :) Jaimito Cartero Aug 15, 05, 12:21 pm I was comped to Gold HP membership a couple of years ago, and got use out of it for 17 months or so. Since they screwed around with the pricing of the PHX-SJO flights and reduced the Gold bonus, I never got to even silver in a year. I do fly a lot of PHX-LAX and some PHX-LAS flights, and wouldn't mind sitting in front. It seems the consensus that the US status will carry over to HP. Will US match status for status? I am Plat with NW and have flown about 90k this year. I think the US upper tier is 100k, correct? Would I be their midlevel or top level? rjp6902 Aug 15, 05, 12:32 pm Does US comp up to the plat level? Also, does anyone have the fax number and a contact at US to address it to? AZ Travels the World Aug 15, 05, 12:47 pm Does US comp up to the plat level? Also, does anyone have the fax number and a contact at US to address it to? There is no Plat level in the US program. They have Silver (25K); Gold (50K) and Chairman's Preferred (100K). They say they don't comp to the 100K level, though I suspect they would under certain limited circumstances. As to who and where to send the info, I suggest you do a search over on the US board for the words "status comp." fly747first Aug 17, 05, 10:27 pm Does US comp up to the plat level? Also, does anyone have the fax number and a contact at US to address it to? HP Plat = US Gold, for US Chairman's Preferred status requires 100K. I certainly wouldn't bother to ask US to match HP status, the two airlines will soon integrate as one in less than two months. No one knows whether they are going to keep the highest status at 100K or create a 4-level Elite status system. Jaimito Cartero Aug 18, 05, 1:00 am I think this has been mentioned previously, but will HP rematch you if they've done so in the past? I can certainly understand them not matching to CP if you only have 75K of flights at HP but if you have over 100K I think they should or at least match you to gold and give you a challenge. I'm on pace to easily make 100K this year but I couldn't even get a challenge to get up to CP. Lance I agree, but other major airlines, e.g. AA, DL, and UA, will not comp you to their highest tier either. Certainly US Airways is not alone there. CO easily gives away its Platinum Elite status, but these days, it's a joke. fly747first Aug 19, 05, 4:02 am I understand your logic but I'm travelling on US before the 2 plans merge. Ahhhhhh... someone is hunting down a free upgrade. Robertsonland Aug 19, 05, 8:26 am I agree, but other major airlines, e.g. AA, DL, and UA, will not comp you to their highest tier either. Certainly US Airways is not alone there. CO easily gives away its Platinum Elite status, but these days, it's a joke. I was only asking for a challenge since I knew they didn't match over to CP. I don't think it was out of the question to even match those who will have over 100k by the time they merge however. Gold will get me what I wanted most which was to select a seat on my flights. I tried to buy some upgrade certs for the flights but was unsuccessful and it's going to be hard to watch if those envoy seats go empty when we flight out of PHL saturday. The flight seems pretty empty right now... Lance gdlamberth Aug 19, 05, 12:15 pm Sorry for being so naive :( but I'm an HP Gold and have no idea of what a "US Match" is. Could I please impose on one of y'all to please explain? Greg AZ Travels the World Aug 19, 05, 12:41 pm Sorry for being so naive :( but I'm an HP Gold and have no idea of what a "US Match" is. Could I please impose on one of y'all to please explain? Greg It's an elite status match, in which one airline will match the elite status you hold on another airline with the hope of securing your business. In this case, the discussion is around US Airways matching the elite status of America West elite passengers. Many say, "why bother," when the airlines are merged in 60 days, assuming it happens as scheduled, the elite members of both airlines will be elite members in the new airline. In the case of Robertsonland and myself, our travel between now and then is taking us onto routes that America West doesn't serve so we asked the US Dividend Miles program people to match our America West elite status so that we can have access to elite boarding, security, check-in, seating, upgrades, etc. They granted that request, matching our HP Platinum status with US Gold. As a result, we're flying US in the meantime. Greg AZ beat me to it. I'm off to Italy tomorrow on US Airways so the Gold status was definitely worth it. If you aren't going to use US Airways I don't see the "worth" but if you are, then it's definitely worth it. Lance LAX Aug 19, 05, 12:48 pm AZ Travels the World: How do I get a status match with HP? If so, could I impose on someone for a number or POC at US Air Dividend miles so I can start the process, please? |
