id like to start with my best experience. i stayed on a lot of club floors around the world, espacially in asia, but best floor was the Club Intercontinental in Cologne, Germany.
They have good sized rooms with seperate bath and shower in the bath and superb Hermes amenities. The design of the whole floor(also hotel) including rooms and club lounge was made by two world famous german interior designers. It is very minimalistic but has a warm and luxurios atmosphere.
The food they serve for breakfast and canapes have a very good Quality.
They even serve Champagne brand "Laurent Perrier" for free the whole day.
Staff is one of the friendliest ive ever experienced.
Really 5 stars +++

Are we keeping this strictly to IC or opening to all properties (CP/HI/HI select, etc)? I've had a number of good experiences at these properties that I could share if this were so. ^

Of the 5 ICs where i have stayed, I would have to say the IC- Le Grand was the nicest club floor expereince.

Room decor, club access and size of club (2 stories), beverage cloicess (adult of course), breakfast selections and evening refreshments all were outstanding.

Not to belittle the others, but IMHO mrs dahorns and I enjoyed IC - Le Grand te most

While I enjoyed our stay at the Le Grand, IMHO, IC HK clearly beats IC Le Grand hands down. IC Hong Kong probably has the best Club offering in all of IC land.

The club at the Hong Kong property offers:

- Full harbor view, Le Grand has views of top of roofs of buildings near by

- A single larger floor, vs Le Grand's two smaller floors

- More HSIA workstations

- A significantly superior breakfast offering as well as evening hors d’oeuvre; afternoon tea selection at HK IC is only average, but is at least a match for Le Grand. Also, all food offering at HK IC is constantly refilled. Once Le Grand runs out, good luck getting more. I dare say that the Le Grand's food offering is mediocre, and most of the time, we just go to the club for drinks, and skip the food entirely.

- A full bar with bartender to Le Grand's self service.

My decision to go ahead with the Le Grand's 120 euro lounge fee was based on other poster's feedback on this board. We paid the 120 euro supplement per day to use Le Grand's lounge, and in hindsight was clearly a mistake. I would say the lounge is only worth perhaps a little more than the $30 per day Ambassador discounted club access at the San Francisco Mark Hopkins.

On the other hand, HK IC offers club access for a standard supplement of HK$500 (around US$60 or 50 euros), and it is worth every cent. The rate for our suite at the HK IC included club access, however, I would have gladly paid the supplement if my room rate does not include club privileges.

The Le Grand's lounge is on par with most other finer IC and International Hilton lounges, while the HK IC's lounge is so much better that there is really no comparison. Hopefully my comments will prevent other FTers from wasting their money on the Le Grand's lounge.

Think SYD runs HKG a close second

I hope to visit the IC HK in the near future. It has received numerous kudos from this board.

btw, I agree w/ the the high cost not really worth it for the IC Le Grand. I was fortunate enough that club access came w/ the room.

As an RA I have been received very well among my IC properties. Although Latin America can NEVER be up to the level of hospitality in Asia, I hold a few IC's dear in my heart.

1. Miramar IC, Panamá: Aesome views of the harbor and the ships entering and exiting the Canal. I always get a Club Room above the 21st Floor. The 21st Floor lounge has a pool and very generous breakfast and evening beverages with canapés. The last time there (June) I got a 2 room suite.

2. IC Santiago, Chile: Very nice rooms and great VIP lounge. Although they recently changed managers and the current one apparently came in slashing. I did not find the extra level of service as before. I was a little dissappointed. No upgrade to Club or Executive room as an RA.

3. IC Chicago: Boy, are they awesome!!! Last time I stayed there, I had a bit of a wait, but it was worth it!!! I was with my wife and we got a corner 2 room suite with 2 huge bathrooms. It was overlooking Michigan Avenue and across from the Wrigley Building. The beds had these wonderful down duvets and plush pillows. Great robes and a lot of chocolate in the mini bar trays.

Not in my Graces

Any IC in Mexico. NEVER do you get upgraded to CLUB, NEVER do you get a nice lounge, ALWAYS charge for drinks at lounge and no amenities.

BTW, any RA's out there experiencing your hotel staff dragging their feet in re-stocking your mini-bar?

IC Austin, up until recently believed that RA's got 1 mini-bar worth of drinks, regardless of length of stay. I think they now know the deal. New Orleans forgot me once as well. I have now made a habit of leaving a simple note - "please refill the mini-bar"

I got no response from an earlier post so I'm posting an experience outside at IC  : I figured if we kept it to ICs it is kind of already covered in the RA experiences thread or at least overlaps a bunch, no?

HI ELP Airport: Concierge Floor and Lounge. Nice room with two tvs, small but fully stocked bar and decent appetizers in the evening. It is open a long time (5pm - 10pm) every night. They usually have 2 hot apps, fruit, cheese and chips w/salsa. They also serve a free hot breakfast there in the morning. Nothing spectacular but better than expected.

I too have stayed at this HI numerous times...great service for a HI. They also usually give me (as platinum) a free breakfast buffet coupon. I also seem to remember getting the first drink free at the bar...great tequila selection.

for me it's not how much (as in clearing out the mini-bar)... but, I's like more than 1 mandarin-orange vodka over the weekend :D

I was there for a week, and with co-workers knowing that I had free mini-bar, things were pretty slim by day 3.

If you got to the second floor of the Le Grand lounge (top floor of the hotel), go into the small conference room that is at the top of the stairs, stand on your tiptoes and look out the small window, you will have a fabulous view of the Eiffel Tower. :D

In all seriousness it is a beautiful view worth seeing, especially at night. It's a pity it is the only room in the hotel with a view of the tower. I agree that the list price for Club access at Le Grand is ridiculous, even at Parisian standards.
