US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Why reduction in flights to BGI (Barbados)?

I have been traveling this route from PHL or CLT to BGI and just found out that USAirways has reduced this services to weekend only. Can someone confirm this and also why this reduction. Almost all flights I have been on are packed.

Thanks

This is just a guess but one of the reasons might be that US Airways is returning aircraft (it's agreement with airbus) back to it's creditors. They have to cut service back from some destinations.

Since it's the summer season, they are probably cutting back capacity to the islands. I believe they are also trying to centralize on CLT (and to a smaller extent, FLL) to the islands.

Was FLL-BGI ever planned? In any event, the CLT flight should run year round (again, IIRC).

Don't be suprised if they make it 7x/week in the winter (from both PHL and CLT).

As a native of St. Croix that would make sense, but US rarely makes sense. Much to my delight they added flights to St. Croix on Tuesdays (from Sat only service) for the summer only. The promotional email talked about adding this flight for the "busy season" but the busy season in STX is certainly not the summer.

I just checked and the stop these flights at the end of August. Back to terrible SJU connections and Caribbean Sun for my twice monthly trips to the mainland :(
