I recall a thread a month or so ago assailing an inflight Envoy snack consisting of pizza in a box. Some thought this was a bad thing for an Envoy flight while others see it as a non-issue.
We finally experience this ourselves on a MAD-PHL Envoy flight. My own observation is that the pizza was excellent. It arrives with a tossed salad with spicy lemon vinegarette dressing. The pizza box was an individual serving size manufactured ( in our case) in Italy.
Includes a plastic fork & knife for the salad ( or for those too faint of heart to actually hold a piece of pizza in their hand ). Kudos to US for a clever inflight snack idea which is tasty and not too costly to the airline -- a good solution.
It's my own opinion that with increasing numbers of domestic flights having no food service, that US should incorporate this boxed pizza idea on some of its longer domestic no-meal flights and sell these instead for $5. Shouldn't be a hassle for the FC to use the microwave to zap pizzas, and the small box is practical both from a user point of view and the FAs need for easy to manage trash.
