I was looking for a weekly car rental for my sister for DEN next month. Went to the National site and linked in to their "free vacation" promo. The rate quoted for a Premium or SUV was $2,000 p.w. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif under that scheme! Using the AA PLT discount reduced it to $360-something but do they really expect anyone to book at $2,000?

Couldn't find that on the site.. Must have been a promotion data setup issue.

That's nothing. Budget here in Beverly Hills rents the Ferrari F355 and F360 for something like $1700/day with a three-day minimum and a flat rate of $1 mile. Once while returning a car I asked if they had much interest at those prices. It seemed to me that anyone who could afford to spend +/-$5500 to rent a Ferrari for a weekend could afford to buy/lease one. The agent said that the cars were rented out more half of the time, usually to film/television production companies and advertising agencies. Go figure.

In Vegas, there are 2 or 3 car companies that rent stuff for $400-500/day. I know Hummers, Porsches, and Vipers are on the list...perhaps a few others.

More than 10 years ago, Hertz in Israel wanted $250/day for an economy car. A car and driver were less. I suspect that they did not want folks wandering off on dangerous roads...And in Romania, cars are over $100/day AND you have to put the entire value of the car on your credit card as collateral!!! And buy insurance!
