I tried searching, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I am planning to make a few Trans Atlantic flights later this year on US metal. What is the best way for me to get upgraded to Envoy or First?

US doesn't have transatlantic First. You can upgrade certain fare classes using miles: 10,000 miles oneway for Y or B fares and 30,000 miles oneway for M, H and Q fares.

Alternatively, if your Travel Agent or business has a relationship with US, they may be receiving space-available anyfare upgrade coupons. Ask and see if these are available. If not, try ebay.

Have you thought of searching usairways.com? There's plenty of info there.

Saw this, forgot to better clarify in my original post. I am looking for ways to leverage my status, rather than using miles to upgrade.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to reliably do this. That said, I have found that:

IF the main cabin is completely full, and

IF there is a long standby list, and

IF there is room in the Envoy cabin, and

IF they have been unsuccessful in filling it up with paid pax and people with upgrade certs, and

IF you have higher status than everyone else trying to do this, and

IF they like your smile,

THEN you might get bumped into Envoy.

That last criterion (about the smile) isn't entirely a joke; the mood of the gate folks seems to play a large role in this. I have used the above "method" to get bumped to Envoy three times in the past year, always FRA-PHL. I have never managed it going to Europe, though.
