I'm flying KAL on this itinerary: ORD-ICN-HKG-ICN-ORD. Three of the four flights are on 777, and one is on a 747 combi.

1. How's KAL business class? Any particular good or bad seats?

2. How's KAL first class? Any particular good or bad seats?

3. I try to avoid beef and pork, although not fanatically. Should I order ahead for a special meal? ("What's the food like?" basically.)

4. What biz class lounges are available at ORD, ICN, and HKG? How about the first class lounge at ICN? What are they like? Do they have showers?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Sounds like a good flight you have coming up. I can only answer a few of your questions, so here goes.

The KAL biz class is not that great when compared with others like NWA's biz class. The seats don't go full flat and often times there is not a personal entertainment system with each seat. But were you are flying mostly 777s they may have the new systems. I know KAL is in the process of updating the interiors of Biz and 1st class.

The food on KAL is great especially if you enjoy Korean food. One of their staples is Bibimbap, and contains very little beef or pork and is mainly a rice dish. But you may want to call ahead to set up special meals.

The Biz class lounges at ICN are great. They have showers and food, plus free internet access. I can't speak for any of the other clubs that you will be visiting nor the first class lounges.

Overall my experience on KAL has been great, especially the service while on board. Have a great trip.
