Any advice on how to get the best deal on this itinerary if we have to fly it twice in the next 6 months. RTW's or one-ways?

Story if interested:
My fiance and I (currently living in Calif) are getting married in Greece next May then having an encore celebration in China (where she was born). In order to get a first hand look at possible venues for the ceremonies, we are heading to the same locations this September.

Any tips on how to best minimize our travel costs for these two big trips? Thanks in advance, Jim

It looks around 1 000$ SFO-ATH with LH in september and same price ATH-PEK. Might be cheaper than RTW. 25 500 miles rt!

Thanks Frankytalia. Just one question: What does LH stand for and the other codes you signed out with? (I'm a newbie at the lingo. In fact I was just trying to fit in and showoff on this forum when I boldly used RTW :) )

SFO = San Francisco, ATH = Athenes LH = Lufthansa PEK = Beijing rt = roundtrip

I looked at fares on travelocity.com, read on the carrier's website and on the specific forum on FT before booking so you make sure the fare qualify to get mileage. I used those cities because you specified only the country, fares may be higher /cheaper depending of where you go exactly of course.

If you were asking for this :

UA[1P] AC[E] CO[G]
MR,HH,SPG,PC,Avis,Hertz

It is the airlines/program code that I use and between brackets my type of membership :

UA = United; 1P stands for Premier Executive
AC = Air Canada; E Elite
CO = Continental; G Gold Elite

MR = Marriott Rewards
HH = Hilton HHonors
PC = Priority Club
SPG = Starwood Preferred Guest

You can find more information under Forums/Miles & Points and the specific category and program forum

Jim, please specify what programs you are affiliated with. Obviously, you are going to earn some serious miles here. Knowing your memberships will help your fellow FTers(FlyerTalk members) advise you.
