MilesBuzz! - Airline Shopping Portals & Gift Certificates.com

I just discovered the great online shopping sources some of the airline shopping portals have (yes, I know I'm slow on the uptake ;) ).

I have a questions about Giftcertificates.com. The way I see it, I can go through a shopping portal and get 2 miles per dollar at gift certificates.com, use the gift certificate to get a hyatt gift check with a mileage earning credit card, and effectively triple dip - 3 airline miles per dollar, plus hotel points should I chose to use the gift checks for my own stay. This would also work with any other hotel chain.

Am I missing something?

Nope. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Take a look at my comments on this subject on the Shopping page of my website below.

This only works with emailable merchant certificates.

"SuperCertificates" incur a service fee, and physical gift certificates incur a mailing fee.

Thanks... you've confirmed what I've noted above. I checked out the website and it looks like it's pretty much what I plan doing - only AA is an exception. Right?

Thanks again.

Thanks - I'll keep that in mind.

Boy, I've been reading/lurking since FT started, and I swear, I never paid attention to this stuff before now. When I say slow on the uptake, I'm not kidding :D
