Asia - Koh Samui airport taxis: fare from airport to Le Meridien resort

I am looking at the Le Meridien website and it says a limo taxi from the Koh Samui airport to the hotel costs $40 for the 20-mile, 45-minute ride.
I can't figure out if this is the standard rate from the airport in a regular taxi or if this is a nicer hotel car and driver.
Does anyone know what the going rate for a regular taxi is to the Le Meridien? Or, the name of a local agent/driver that can arrange the transfer at a more reasonable rate?
Thanks.

Taxi in Samui is quite expensive but still not more than US$ 15. Airport taxi might cost you not more than US$ 20. Car rental will cost you about US$ 50 a day for Honda CRV or Toyota Wish model. There is only one main road which go around the island.
When you get off the plane the best bet is to bargain w/ the taxi guys standing out in front of the airport ..you can't miss 'em we got one into Chaweng for 200bht..( 5$)
the hotel transfer will be in a nicer car .. and is a more expensive option.. but can be worth it - just depends on what kind of traveller you are ..
(we did that in BKK and it was nice to have a cool (air conditioned) 5 series BMW to pick us up at 1 am after 20 hrs of flying .. )
also -I wouldn't rent a car there unless you are comfortable with crazy island driving!!! taxis are the way to go ..

It's about US$ 20 or around 800 Baht one way from the airport to the Meridien. Chaweng is much shorter distance and more common to find cheap taxi.
Good luck

Thanks for the replies.
Got a reply from the hotel and they indicated the rate was "1000 baht depending on negotiation," so 800 baht sounds like a good target.

Chaweng is only 15 mins and you should go on Sawadee.com to book cars and hotels
