Doing an MR to ATL in January, and staying for 3 nights. I've never been to ATL before, so what should I do? I would considering doing things outside ATL or even beyond GA.

Hi,

Atlanta is a nice city. Jan will probably have hi's in the 40's but shouldn't be a problem. Buckhead up on the north side is a great area to go to for night life. Lot's of Museums etc. to see around downtown. Definetly need to check out Peachtree street (downtown as there seem to be several ;-)

There are still some Civil War battlefield areas to see. Also driving south there is a great golf course/country club called the Eagles Landing (if I remember right). Has a hotel so you can stay there if you have time to golf.

Go online as I hear there have some other hot spots besides Buckhead opening up.

I get out there every two - three years and it's always changing.

Good Luck!

Downtown has "Underground Atlanta", the Coke museum, and a number of good restaurants - but not much night life (a little bit at Underground). Peachtree Street/Road runs north from downtown through Buckhead and beyond. Buckhead has the nightlife as well as a couple of large malls and many good restaurants. The public transportation system (MARTA) is good for getting you from the airport to downtown, Buckhead, or further north (via rail), but it is not too easy to get to other parts of the city/suburbs (I personally have never used a bus - only the rail system).

It all depends on what you like to do...
