I am planning to fly on a trip this weekend using Dividend Miles. On the return trip I connect through Washington DC. If I decide to stay in DC and not get on my connection flight are there any consequences?

Score8 Jul 7, 05, 7:33 am There will only be consequences if you actually tell someone. Otherwise, you will be fine provided this is the last leg of the PNR. M EDIT: To clarify, I meant that you should not call US in advance and let them know that you will not be using the leg. As is indicated in the other post, it may be courtesy to tell the GA that you will not be using the leg. EnvoyBoy Jul 7, 05, 7:47 am This was discussed over the weekend here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=447876). Summary: do the airline and your fellow pax a favor and have the courtesy to tell an agent so others on standby may have your seat and the plane will not be held looking for you. snokums925 Jul 7, 05, 7:25 pm I am planning to fly on a trip this weekend using Dividend Miles. If you checked bags they will go on to your final destination. If US is like HP and they find out you are not on the connection, they COULD be shipped back to your origination city. They will not be short-checked. abeflyer Jul 7, 05, 7:32 pm Another issue to think about is checked baggage. If you checked bags they will go on to your final destination. Only how naive you are, but as an HP employee you'll see first hand soon enough when bags go through PHL, that US is no HP. Bags are not checked with US--they never make it somehow. I remember a trip last year between ABE and ORD with the bags being lost in both directions--last time I checked a bag. I have become a champion of the carryon bag even for a one week trip to Europe in March. There are other reasons not to walk away on a connection, but bags aren't one of them with US. Welcome to the US family or should I say I am looking forward to joining you and the HP family. :) snokums925 Jul 8, 05, 6:35 am Only how naive you are, but as an HP employee you'll see first hand soon enough when bags go through PHL, that US is no HP. I have heard that PHL is the black hole of bags! What the heck happens to them? Does anyone have a clue? From the sounds of it, probably not. Thanks for the welcome! The integration work has already started in my department and will be a LOT of work. This will be the best for the airlines, their employees AND especially you customers. Hopefully they will take the BEST of both airlines and combine them. Fun times ahead! |
