Travel Technology - GPS watches/cell phones with tracking software

Can anyone recommend a watch or cell phone that has built in GPS utilizing a software tracking program so that I can keep track of my 11 year old? He has a medical condition and we like to know where he is.

I keep an eye on this site Wherify Wireless (http://www.wherifywireless.com/prod_watches.htm), but it seems they are taking forever to release the product.

We have Cingular for our cell service but I can't seem to find anything on GPS enabled phones that can be tracked with software.

If anyone has any experience with either cell or watch gps please let me know.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the microchips you can get inplanted in your pet.

Now, I'm not thinking of implanting your child. LOL But perhaps the same technology in his wallet, phone, or house key.

The chips embedded in your pet don't track them, they allow a chip-reading device to obtain a unique id that can be mapped to the owner's personal info that is stored in a database.

You might want to get a Nextel phone and there is software that can help you
