US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-2005 America West merger) - Using Dividend Miles from two accounts

FT experts, need your help. I've looked all over the USAir site, and can't find this information (I understand from other posts that the site is not always up to date).

Mr SB and I will be travelling BDL to LAX, and would like to burn some miles, maybe sit up front for once! I have +/- 65000 DivMiles, and Mr SB has +/- 38000. So between us, we have enough for a 50000 award each -- will USAir let me give miles to Mr SB, or pool our miles to get the tickets? We could buy extra miles if necessary, but don't really want to...

Any advice would be much appreciated! :)

Are you preferred on US? If so, you can still request an upgrade - I think you're treated the same as discount fares for that purpose. Good luck.

check out points.com and see if that site can help you. I know you can transfer miles there. I don't know if you can do it between different accounts.

Thanks for the input. Sadly, I'm not Preferred -- haven't flown US for a while now. And to complicate matters, the flights that will probably work best for our schedule are on UA metal, it seems. Trying to figure this out is giving me a brain freeze... ;)
