The Los Angeles airport department will spend up to $15.9 million to rebuild and enlarge LAX's passenger screening checkpoints to speed the flow of travelers into secure areas, the Board of Airport Commissioners decided Tuesday.

Commissioners approved hiring CSA Constructors Inc. of Paramount to add seven screening lanes...

I went to the Airport Board's agenda, and it doesn't seem to specify exactly where. I can only hope they are located at the terminals I want to use! lol!

I hope they're improving TBIT. Right now it's a disgrace.

I really don't fly out of anything other than TBIT and T4. T4 is generally pretty good (but I use the AA Elite bypass). TBIT really sucks, especially in the late evenings. Judging from the lines out front when driving by, it looks like T1 needs some serious help to.

Wow, they're spending $15.9 Million to add 7 screening lanes? I'm sure the scanning equipment can be rather expensive, but knowing how things typically go with government spending (and DHS expenditures in the recent past), probably the cheapest and lowest tech equipment will be installed, while the pockets of a few will be replete with cash. :(

Boy, you can say that again. But I find one of the problems is that the TSA bozos are totally clueless about line management. I was there two weeks ago and in the south security screening area, there were three lines operating and the guy in charge of the line was directing everybody to only one of the stations. I zipped into one of the other lines and my trip throuh was rather quick. (OTOH, maybe I shouldn't complain. :p )

Disney people have line management down to a science. With Disneyland so close, I don't know why the TSA doesn't just hire some Disney folks for a few days/weeks to have them teach how to do it right.

Disgrace is indeed the choice of word to depict that filthy facility.

But if screening is to be expedited, then it's a definite relief.

They don't have to go to Disneyland. The TSA is already a Mickey Mouse operation. :D
