Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Is CX excessive in leaving the seatbelt sign on?

Just arrived to Hong Kong from johannesburg this morning and onwards to Tokyo on CX748....

Halfway into the flight, i rang for a snack - the noodle soup. The attendant came by to inform me that the Fasten seatbelt light was on and she could not serve the hot soup, but will do it once the light goes off..

Well, the light never did go off until 2.5 hours later, and we weren't even in turbulence.. I was quite peeved, and complained to one of the flight attendant, who apolgized... 15 minutes later the fasten seatbelt sign was off... To be put on again after my soup was served and it stayed on until breakfast...

I thought that CX was particularly excessive....when it comes to leaving the light on...

Editted to add: Did CX downgrade the Noodle soup? Mine tasted like it came from instant soup..

Try United, talk about excessive, they are notorious for that.

I think after the MNL incident CX is now even more strict about Seatbelt signs.

It always was.

I believe they use Lee Kum Kee powdered pork broth (I was watching them prepare it in the galley and they poured hot water into the bowl, while the noodles/meat/vegetables were being heated in an economy class style aluminum package in the oven).

No i think what the op is saying that the noodles are of the Nissan Cup Noodle Soup base quality. Only until recently (around 2003-4ish) have CX introduced the Lee Kum Kee Pork Broth in J Class. Before it was just the Cup Noodles (same as the ones in Y Class) but put into a Blue Bowl.

I don't mean to nit-pick but .... Nissan is an automaker. Nisshin is a maker of those cup noodles. :)

I agree that CX can be a bit excessive in leaving the Fasten Seat Belt Sign on but they are pretty good about their service and letting you get whatever you want when compared to UA where the FA's have tendency to completely disappear.

Sorry in HK we do call it Nissan or Nisan (Yat Ching) That is what it is printed on the package and FYI they are not the MIC ones.

I have in my kitchen a selection of instant noodle packets bought from Wellcome in Hong Kong. The brand name printed on the packaging is "Nissin". Go to the Wellcome website (http://www.wellcome.com.hk), look under "basic groceries", "packet noodles" and scroll through to page 3. There you will find the evidence that (as very often the case) you, newcx12345, are wrong.
