I wish any who challenge these farce measures of "security" resulting from feelings of insecurity the best of luck.
The DHS's "unfortunate misidentification scenario" excuse appears to be just that. Regardless, the real idiocy is that most of these blacklists are plagued with a high proportion of names and partial names with no further identifiers. That is to say, the lunacy goes so far as there being cases of where the blacklists do not consist of actual persons but just a collection of (often partial) names (with no further identifier) on occassion. Imagine every Brian in America being flagged down because one "name" on the list was Brian and no other personal information was available or even conceivable. (Yes, Briana would be under trouble too.)
I am aware of one situation where one person on one of these watchlists is clearly a male, but females with a similar name have had to ring up the FBI before flying. I guess the DHS now has its latest excuse for "crotch-checks" at airports since "breast-fondling" may not be sufficient to distinguish males from females.
