Hertz - Expiring Hertz Points

Hertz points seem to expire extremely quickly (I know it's two years, but I don't rent cars when I travel for vacations)... I can't find it on their website, but is there a comprehensive listing that shows what I can exchange these points for (besides car rentals and the lousy airline mileage conversion)?

Car rentals and the lousy airline miles / credits are all you can exchange ZE1 points for.

I've got 12000+ points that expire this December :( . Does Hertz Corp. lurk on this board? Can we collectively write to Hertz and have them adopt a no-expiration-if-you-have-1-transaction-in-X-Years policy, like many airlines do?

I hope that 12,000 was on your company's dollar and not yours! That seems like a lot, even to people like me who rent for $100+ a day in Manhattan. I have asked about extending the points and have never been given any slack. That said, you have a full year from the date you redeem the points to use them, so you should redeem them right before they are due to expire. Also, the one official way to use the points for someone other than yourself is to request rental vouchers for your spouse, as that is allowed with the ZE1 points. And since your spouse's name is not recorded in your profile anywhere . . . The vouchers will be issued in his/her name, as you provide it to Hertz.

You bet! In 2003, I rented a full-size every week using a PC with 300 bonus points per week. Reached 20000 points total (thru mid-2004), and then got out of travelling. however, the first 12000 expire now. As you suggest, I'll wait until the last weekday in December to redeem.

also your idea of providing a spouse's name at redemption sounds interesting - i guess I'll have to meet some flyer-talkers of the opposite sex in coupon connection and strike some deals over there by the year end. ;)

I am still going to talk to Hertz and see if they budge. Thx!
