Flying Blue (Air France, KLM, and Other Partners) - Class of Travel Bonus >> 100% for long-haul C!!??

Just got back from a trip from CDG to JFK via AMS in business. All segements were booked in Z class (discount business) on KL operated flights.

For this flight as per my understanding of the published FB rules I was expecting the following miles:

CDG-AMS 750(min. miles)+750(100% COS bonus)+750(100% plat. bonus)=2,250 (1500 of which are level miles)
AMS-JFK 3639(actual miles)+1820(50% COS bonus)+3639(100% plat. bonus)=9,098 (5459 of which are level miles)

Instead I was very happy to see the following posted to my account:

CDG-AMS 1875 level/award miles + 750 award miles=2,625 [implying a 150% bonus for European C (750+(750*1.5)=1875)!!!]
AMS-JFK 7,279 level/award miles + 3639 award miles=10,918 [implying a 100% bonus for long-haul C (3639+3639=7279)!!!]

Was my understanding of the published rules wrong or have they actually been changed? Both outbound and inbound posted in this way. I doesn't seem to be a simple mistake of using the old FD rules as the plat. bonus is now only 100% instead of the old 125% (as was the case under FD). But, the 100% travel class bonus even on non-European flights is like that the old FD rules. Furthermore the 150% bonus on the European segements is also completely new.

Can anyone else confirm this change and if it is official or not? If this is indeed not a mistake, then KL/AF will be getting some more of my business. With the reduced travel class bonus of only 50% I was already planning on shifting some business to *A. With this improved class of travel bonus structure FB is once again a competitive program in my opinion.

Dear usexpat you're my only hope !

I did understand the new FB rules like you did so I am very surprised to see this 100% COS bonus applied in your long-haul segment ! This is a KEY point for me, before I plan my next trip to LAX with *A, I need to get a confirmation from other pax...I may likely reconsider my opinion
Interesting to see the 150% COS bonus in intra-europe flights as well...
Funny, these rules are neither FB nor F+ nor FD....
My friends, a new FFP is launched ! Will AF/KLM take this opportunity to change the name ? :D

Can someone has had similar surprise ?
Usexpat, before shouting for joy, did you regularly check your FB account ? Dont know if you're aware, but one AF' speciality is to overcredit before regularize... I was credited one day of 90Kmiles, after an award trip to CAY...and sadly regularized 2 weeks after
Pity, crediting award trip should be a milestone in FFP :D

All,

I would not fly off the handle yet ... I just had a nice negative surprise with Air France over the weekend.

Flew from Geneva to Paris and back, ok, on a cheap fare. Now, according to the Flying Blue information posted on both the KLM and the Air France site, the minimum credit for an international flight should be 750 miles, and 500 for a domestic flight (according to Air France 250 for some booking classes).

Now imagine my surprise when I only got 187 miles for each flight (plus 50% bonus for being Silver). I called up FB, only to be told that, contrary to what's posted on the Internet, there is no minimum mileage credit anymore.

You can bet that I've now contacted them by email as well to get this in writing. Will keep you posted of what I'm told.

Cheers,

Newbie

PS = For information, I come from the AF side of FB. Maybe that makes a difference.

PPS = Interestingly, I became Silver in May, after I got my Ivory FB card. AF still mailed me my Frequence Plus Blue card, but I'm still waiting for my new FB Silver card.

Verry Intersting.. esp. the 100 % C Class Bonus. I got 150% on AMS BKK return so I guess you're lucky. I was not that lucky..

My problem was that I was Flying on a Y Class Ticket AMS HKG return and only got 25 % E Class....
Ok in the old FD time you would phone the elite helpdesk and it was ok most of the time now you've to wait a long time on the phone and then they say ok we see here E so 25 % How is that possible.. strange world we are living in with FB..

But that's for another Thread..

Anyone else got the 100% C Class?

N & E-class do not even exist on KLM intercontinental flights !

Another unexpected credit here:

(All segments booked in J class. Most flights operated by AF and some by DL).

1.
AF 8999 ATL PAR C 6,570
BONUS DE MILES SPECIAL CLUB 4,380

2.
AF 5100 PAR ZRH C 750
BONUS DE MILES SPECIAL CLUB 500

The 1st one I understand: miles flown + 50% cabin bonus + 100% tier bonus.

The 2nd one confuses me. The 750 miles shown obviously include the 50% cabin bonus, which means I got 500 miles, instead of the 750 minimum for international flights.

Why does it seem like I'm the only one whose unexpected credits turn out to be negative ones?

Sadly you are not the only one! I flew under U class on a CO ticket; FB gave me no miles as they insisted it was N class despite the ticket! One HD person insinuated that I was lying. Took me ages to sort out and not a single apology.

<...>Geneva to Paris and back, ok, on a cheap fare. <...>according <...>site, the minimum credit for an international flight should be 750 miles<...>I only got 187 miles for each flight
Well, the only thing that is clear is that all descriptions, tables and sporadic communications from FB are about how great the program is, but if you look below the surface there are many snafus, presumably covered by some vague language in the T&C.

So the mentioned 750-mile minimum is for those FF entitled to score the full 100%. Your 'cheap, competitive, LCC-like ;)' fare (N/E/V) will only get you 25% of that, or 187 miles.

Don't ask how to figure this out other than through expierence, but can confirm 187 miles for E on KL. In the same light, regarding the original post, 1875 miles it was in C, which is clearly contrary to the FB site.

Hmm, doesn't add up. In Business on European flights you should receive 100% cabin bonus. Hence 1500 points + 750 points = 2250. This according to my understanding of the rules AND the Miles Finder on www.klm.com.

As feared and as warned by others, my account has now been corrected so that instead of the 100% bonus I only got 50%. So the C class long-haul bonus is a per what the book says...only 50%.

If only FB were so fast in correcting the bonuses that were miscalculated the other way . . .

Will, I called FP up in Canada. I had lots of inconsistencies in my mileage credits ofer the past few months, adding up to almost 20,000 miles! She's looking into it, so she said.
