I'm having an interesting go around with Hertz over a reservation I am trying to make for a rental in the UK next month. I started out online and got as far as the "Reserve A Car" page, which came with a quoted rate for my selected vehicle (an automatic transmission) and a special rate code to use.
Never having booked a car abroad before, I was surprised to find a further notation that "this vehicle cannot be booked online. To book this reservation, please call Hertz at one of the numbers listed below." So I called, gave them all the details from the "reserve a car" page, and that's where the problems started. Hertz told me they could not confirm the rate I was quoted. That was two days ago. So I called back today - same story: Hertz still cannot confirm the rate I was quoted, but they're working on it and will get back to me later. Consequently I have a car reserved for the dates I want - but no idea what the rate is going to be and whether I should start looking at other rental companies (and give up the Hertz points.)
Has anyone encountered this situation before? And if so, how did you resolve it?
