My parents are cleared for 2 free first tickets on the new non stop (1:20pm?) NEXT May using AA miles. I am trying to get 2 J or F seats to travel with them(the dad is in his 90's). Going through AA no inventory is available. Question - does CX have different award inventory for Marco Polo members vs other One world partners (AA). If yes, I'm heading for Coupon Connection and hopefully an easy trade  If not..... it's back to calling every day. Thanks for the help everyone!

How did you ever get two F seats on CX using AA miles in the first place? - it's unheard of. They seem to allocate only 1 F seat. I've been trying to get two F from BKK-SFO without any luck. And yes, they do allocate more seats for AsiaMiles members. They do have 2 F seats on the flight I want, provising I was using Asia Miles to get them.

(deleted - misread post as refering to JFK-HKG flights)

How did you ever get two F seats on CX using AA miles in the first place? - it's unheard of. Trivially easy when CX starts a new service ... so it has excess capacity on the route and a year's worth of empty flights in the pipeline. CX started a 3rd (daytime) flight LAX-HKG and presumably this is what was booked. Probably all gone by now, if you care about these things and are able to plan ahead you have to keep an eye on the schedule changes.

As for inventory, it isn't Asiamiles but MPC status using Asiamiles that is the trick. MPC members can waitlist for CX awards, thus when they become available it goes to the waitlisted CX member and is gone by the time Aadvantage inventory can check for it. So even though it is the same pool of seats for CX and AA, the waitlist allows effective award priority for CX. Not sure if you can get the waitlist if you are using Asiamiles but are not an MPC member.

number6-- I don't believe it is true that the same availability is available to Asia Miles members and AAdvantage members. Rights now the Asia Miles website shows 2 F seats available on the flight I want. I have called AA several times and they advise only 1 F seat is available to AA.

first thanks for the responses.....

Is there such an award as anytime first or business? (the chart indicates no - however I might have missed something)

Has anyone used Points.com to convert another programs miles to Asia Miles? I have a few bucket loads of AA miles..... any thoughts on this?

Is there a way to search the Asia Miles site for award seats without becoming a member?

thanks again
