Hilton HHonors - Hilton Bahrain info anyone?

Looking to book a stay in Bahrain for 1 night in Sept and noticed the Hilton was a cat 1 hotel, 10,000 points a night. Is this place a dump, why so cheap? I'm Hilton Gold, perhaps a chance at a decent room? Any info greatly appreciated! :)

When we were in Bahrain, we stayed at the Gulf Hotel. However the Hilton was about 10 blocks? ( a cab ride) away. We went there to the cocktail lounge one night and the steak restaurant. It seemed very nice-a typical Hilton high rise. The restaurant was good! Bahrain was wonderful-but I imagine will be hot when you are there! We were there in April and it was high 70's to 80's. Don't forget to visit the Gold Souk!!!

I'll be interested in your report, or in what anyone else posts about this property as it's on my list and at 10,000 points it's a bargain.

I have stayed at other 10,000 point hotels (Cyprus Nicossia Park this year!) and have not been disappointed with the property.

IMO they'll set the hotel category based on the ability to attract people to the hotel. Bahrain is not as popular as Dubai or Abu Dhabi (or even Oman), but it probably will be one day. So going there now (for 10,000 points) is a good idea, cos that go up as well !!

Hilton no longer has a property in BAH !

The former Hilton is now a Golden Tulip, which is just as well as this property was the worst Hilton I have ever stayed in (an award that has some extremely stiff compettiion).

I stayed at the Sheraton Bahrain few months ago. The Sheraton hotel staff told me the Golden Tulip right across street from Sheraton was a Hilton before. There is no more Hilton in Bahrain after it became Golden Tulip.
