Hilton HHonors - Honors Points for more than 1 room per stay?

I wish Hilton would get their information straight. My boss and I generally travel together and I make one reservation for 2 rooms under my name with my HHonors number then add him to the reservation. I have Express Checkout setup with my company credit card (in my name). Sometimes I get points for both rooms and sometimes I only get points for 1 room. The Hilton Suites in BNA told me that the policy is 1 room per HHonors member but the Hampton Inn and Suites just down the street gives me credit for both rooms under my number.

What is the policy?? Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks!

TWO rooms per member per stay. As soon as the stay credit (for the primary room) posts, contact HHonors for an "adjustment" to add the points for the second room.

Two rooms...but you need to have only one folio.

Well not exactly
Its easier if you get one folio but many properties seem to lack the knowledge to combine folios. Actually two folios in the name of the member requiring credit will work but you wiil to fax both into the HHonors center for proper credit.

You can get points for TWO rooms - in my experience. It is, as MIKESILV says, easier if you have it all on one portfolio, but I too have run into situations where they tell me they don't know how or it shows they did not do it on checkout. (You will only get one stay credit per stay, of course, regardless of the number of rooms you book.)

I have had this happen several times this spring. If someone at the property is smart enough to combine rooms into one folio then you are set. In fact on 2 different occassions (HI Philadelphia Downtown and HI Indianapolis Downtown) I had 3 rooms under one folio and I got credit for all 3 rooms. This was under the triple points promo as well.

If they can not manage the merge process then in my experience you can only get credit for 2 rooms because you have to fax the copy of the second statement to HH for credit.

Moral of this story is to beg and plead that they put it under one folio.

From the OP's message - it appears that the Nashville Hilton Suites outright refuses to combine folios?

I've never done this so please excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject.

If you book 2 rooms under one name(VIP #and folio), as the hilton website allows why would this present any problem with regards to points?

Good question - but I have had at least two experiences where everything was booked online with the same reservation number, and at the hotel, they were clueless on what to do; I had to deal with HHonors to get my points later.

They booking is not the problem where the system breaks down is at the front desk where most properties insist on giving out separate folios for each room.
Most of the times the stayer is just told it cannot be done usually because the CSRs just havent been instructed or just dont know how to combine the folios
since its not done very often and also probably due to the fact that the majority of HHonors members are not aware they can get points for the additional room and are satisfied when handed two folios.

Ok, I see. I was under the impression that by doing it online the hotel didn't have to do anything but check the guest in.

That is correct. Actually both the Hilton Suites on 4th Ave in downtown Nashville and the Homewood Suites in Brentwood, TN will NOT give points for both rooms. I will have to dig up my receipts and fax them to HHonors to see if they can give me the credit. Thanks for the tip! :)

From the Terms and conditions, though I've never had it post without me having to chase down the second room:

4. You may earn Base point credit for up to two rooms per stay, if all eligible charges for both rooms are paid on one folio. Base point credit will be earned for all eligible folio charges incurred on both rooms. Bonuses issued on Base points or total folio charges, including tier bonuses (15%, 25% or 50%, depending on member tier) and double or triple Base point promotions, will apply to the total Base point credit earned or folio charges incurred for both rooms. "Double Base points" means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base points earned during a stay and "Triple Base points" means you will receive a bonus equal to two times the number of Base points earned during a stay. For any other bonuses, including HHonors partner bonus points and other promotional bonuses, bonus points will be awarded on one room only. You will receive only one stay credit (including credit toward HHonors VIP tiers), and only one mileage credit will be earned. Bonus points earned on Base points do not count toward VIP tier qualification (Example - "Double Base points" or "Triple Base points" promotions).

FWIW, I have never successfully had two rooms put onto one folio. I also have never had a problem getting credit for a second room after faxing in the receipt for the room that didn't post.

I've only done this once, and received (and paid for) both rooms on one folio, and got the points with no problem.

Thanks for the T&C extract posting, cordelli!

BTW, you must be one of those high-risk takers I hear about, posting your unadulterated e-mail address on a public forum! Some folks I kow will post an adulterated, but easy to figre emmblance of their e-mail to prevent spider harvesting, such as mike@nospam.cordelli.com. ;)

Combining folios is great in theory but doesn't happen. I have called the Gold member services and got the points credited.

I have an upcoming stay (Chicago Hilton) where I will be booking and paying for a co-worker to stay in a sep room at the same hotel I am. First time I have done this.
I will put in the Comments section, "Please place both rooms charges on one folio." to see if that helps. Of course I'll also include, "HHonors Gold guest would appreciate any available room upgrade..." ;)

I would follow up on this in-person with the front desk during your stay.

I will. I tend to "follow up" on upgrade requests so will do so on this as well.

Have had this situation numerous times and no matter what I have done (online request, email request, telephone request) Hilton has never given me the second room credit. I have given up asking.

What worked (1 time out of 1) for me was to make a reservation for "two rooms, 2 adults per room" online with one confirmation number. The four of us arrived together at the hotel and one folio was prepared in my name with a single credit card swipe.

I don't know whether others have been trying some variation on the above process, but I'd guess that the further you deviate from the above the greater the chances that it won't work as you desire.

Anyone do what I've done with bad results?

Just following up on my stay at the Chicago Hilton.

I had included in the reservation comments section, as I stated above, "Please place both rooms charges on one folio."
I also had made the reservation, one res #, for two rooms for 1 adult each with my cc.
When I got to the hotel I checked us both in and again requested to make sure that both room charges were on one folio. I was ensured that they would be.
Next day upon checking out, folio under the door only had my room charge. My co-worker had a sep folio (totally different folio #).

We went to eat breakfast in the executive lounge (very nice, good food and friendly staff). I asked the concierge (or whoever it is that handles requests, etc in the exec breakfast area) if she would make sure that both room charges were on one folio. She said she would be happy to and re-printed the room charges. The only difference now between folio #s, was the letter "a" at the end of co-worker's folio #.

We checked out and I let a couple days pass. The points from my room posted. His points did not post. I ended up waiting about 10 days and then emailed gold@hilton.com.
I explained what had happened. I got an email back within about 12 hours saying that the points would be posted from the 2nd room within 24 hours. They were.
A little frustrating, seeing as you can be "eternally vigilante" and still not obtain what you are seeking, until you follow up some more. ;)

Edited to add: I just checked my HHonors.com account to view the eFolio and now both folio's have the exact same #.

Glad it worked out for you in the end.

Personally, I would always assume that one room would post as a stay credit plus those points, and that the second room would need to be added as a later "adjustment"; I have had both post together, but that's truly erratic.

Customer Service has been pretty good about adjusting the total without whining for me to wait for the second room to show up. They seem to realize how this situation works.

My experience is that the Hilton hotels never read the note part of the reservation but do sometimes read the notes in the profile.

The only time I get one folio is when I stand there on check-out day with my under-the-door folios and say "these need to be on one folio, please TRANSFER charges from room x to my room". Most of the time the DC can figure out how to do that, sometimes I have to ask them to find someone who does know how, or just wait and add it to my quarterly email for missing points/stays

Just MHO, but if the original reservation is for two rooms (as opposed to trying to combine two separate reservations) the whole one-folio thing goes a lot smoother.
