Chicago - Marshall Fields' - Is Nothing Sacred?

Today, while strolling through Marshall Field's on State Street, I saw something I never thought I would see in my lifetime. FANNY MAY candies for sale. Whoever developed Frango Mints has to be spinning in his grave.
Long-time Chicagoans know that the Frango Mint and Fanny May's Mint Meltaways have been competitors all of our lives, made within a mile from each other. Now, sadly, neither is made in Chicago. Is nothing sacred?
An employee did tell me that it is for a limited time only! Whew! :)
I remember the uproar when Frango decided to move shop a while back. It was indeed sad to hear as a Chicagoan that their long time factory was closing because labor costs were not competitive. I've always been partial to the little cubes that are Frango mints. But considering we almost lost Fanny May for good recently, a little friendly collaboration is a good thing IMO.

I know we're not supposed to dredge up these old threads, but the Frango Mint is coming home!
Frango mints are about to be made in Chicago again!
Macy's announced Wednesday that the mints many Chicagoans grew up loving are going to be made at a Chicago candy factory again.
"It's our number one brand in the store. We sell more Frango units than anything else," Ralph Hughes, regional vice president of corporate communication for Macy's, said.
At first, only a portion will be made locally by Cupid Candies Chicago.....

My parents lived in Chicago for a while (at 222 Dearborn East, to be exact) and always brought back Frango mints when they went back to visit. I went over to Macy's on State last week and bought a few boxes to give as gifts; they are sooo good! Glad to hear they will be made in Chicago again. ^

Are Frangos sold at all Macy's, or just the ones in Chicago?

They're big money. I saw them at Macy's in New York well before they changed Field's to Macy's. Although they're not as special elsewhere as in Chicago.

The Macy's on State had a few special box covers other than the standard Frango black and green; I suspect they might be Chicago-specific. The ones I bought had a nice pastel watercolor of the Chicago skyline on the cover. It's nice to see the old Marshall Field script logo on the box as well.
