AS a gold member can I assume that I will be granted lounge access due to my membership level, or are the hotels allowed to be a little selective who they hand out access to?

Not too bothered about exec floor, but the lounge access would be good. :)

Thanks in anticipation.

I don't know what the current policy is, but when I stayed at the Park Lane in 2003 as a Gold, I was given lounge access.

Outside of London there aren't many Hiltons in the UK with executive lounges. The only ones I know and have been given access too as Diamond are Glasgow, Cardiff and Newcastle. I'm told Belfast also has a lounge. In theory, you should be given access to these lounges as Gold, but the theory doesn't always work! Outside the US, the terms state that Golds and Diamonds should be upgraded to the Executive level or best available room, subject to availability. If not available, they only have to give you a special amenity, which is sometimes a bottle of wine and chocolates - not even breakfast.

Thanks for your replies

I know that not many properties have lounges, we were given access in Cardiff and am looking at Newcastle, just wondered what the chances were.

Both at the Hilton Park Lane and at the Hilton Metropole I got Exec lounge access without problems.

At the Hilton London Metropole the Exec Level rooms are in one of the older towers. If you ask you should be able to get a room in the newest tower (bigger rooms and higher and therefore nicer view) and still have lounge access.

Stayed as a Gold at Hilton Park Lane in May 2004 and given a lovely suite on Executive Floor with Lounge access. Also wine and fruit in room....everyone on staff friendly and so helpful....had a great time.
