Hilton HHonors - Executive Floor/Suite Awards?

As a Diamond, I can usually get upgraded to my satisfaction if I am the traveler. But what if I want to gift an award to a relative or friend, and want them to enjoy upgrade benefits? It seems poor value to spend all those points, and your nearest and dearest gets consigned to a ground floor room near the elevator shaft, with no breakfast or lounge access. Hyatt has low-cost suite upgrade awards, and even concierge floor awards at some foreign properties (incurring no base room charge), where you can guarantee that your relative will get bennies. Does Hilton have anything similar, systemwide or at any of its individual properties?

As I posted in another thread - I gifted my kids a bunch of awards for their honeymoon. They were given full diamond benefits at all hotels. While I would not expect this to be the rule ( they were on their honeymoon, this was Europe). I dont know why you would expect the giftee;s to end up in a ground floor room near the elevator. To the best of my knowledge Hilton does not have upgraded awards.

If I simply booked the award in my mother's name (no status), that could well happen. Certainly no club access. I guess I'll have to book it in my name, but include her in the reservation. She'll pretend that I'm checking in later.

Well remember that your benefits are supposed to be for you - how would you feel if every member did that and you couldnt get your upgraded room because someone elses no status friend was in it . In my case - it was all above aboard - only the kids name was on the reservation and it was at the hotels discrection based on their occupancy load, etc if they chose to upgrade them. They were able to see that the reservation was made with a diamond members points - so they obviously factor that in
